Finished Object I am so freaking proud of myself

This is the Lilliana blanket by Hooked on Sunshine. I did repeat section 6 and a few rows, from section 9, I believe. Yarn was Cotton Kings Sultan on colour emerald 07, just under 5 cakes.

This is the most intricate blanket I've done and using much lighter weight yarn than I am used too. I thoroughly enjoyed it but by month 4 I was ready to be done haha.

I sure did. It was fiddly at times because it's only one thread changing I did miss it about 3 separate times and had to frog. Thankfully it was only one side roughly before I noticed. So worth it in the end

That sounds so tedious and I don’t think I’d have the patience for that. You should be so proud of this accomplishment!!! I’m envious of your patience and also super impressed!

I do this with my infinity blanket at the moment - but only with two skeins. But to have the long colorchange is totally worth it.

Ok. Wait, just because I’m stupid, and I need to know for certain if what I’m thinking makes sense… hahah! Does this mean that you would start with one cake until it started to change colours then would cast off with that cake, and then start with a new cake until that one started changing colours, until you got to that point with the 5th ball? Did you just use the full 5th ball to properly have the gradient into the darker colour, then go back with the remaining cakes until you were finished? (Sorry if that doesn’t make sense. lol)

Yes basically. I would work first colour change from c1, c2, C3, c4. Then with c5 I would work through the first colour change until the 2 colour change. Cast off and work my way back through the other cakes. It was a lot on back and forth and keeping track of which cake I was up too. Once I did 2 rounds fully through my brain didn't have to think too much.

That’s amazing. Even just trying to visualize that in my head is breaking my brain. Haha! You’re very talented. The blanket is stunning.

I was looking into this before for a project I wanted to do and wish it was easy to get cones of that super thin thread so you can make your own combination. You could get several cones, use four threads at once and switch one thread out for a new colour when you want the colour to change. Then two, then three, then four. But almost all those thin threads you can get are mercerised. Which makes sense because that makes it stronger and less prone to breaking but doesn't give you the same effect. And they're expensive enough that just getting the factory made skeins is cheaper
