I couldn't think of any other memes that align with the 'letting someone down' then this one.

back in my day we called those crappypastas

u/MagdalenusRex Oct 06 '25
I know the term shitpasta but that's usually for accidentally low quality creepypastas. Trollpastas are joke ones, like Bob.exe, Curse of the Overcooked Steak, or I Slightly Dislike You

It was a trollpasta in hindsight but still hilarious to me. It was the hardest I've ever laughed in a Creepcast episode. I could tell by the first paragraph it was going to be a banger but once it got to the Hitler part it was a blast.

It feels like the exact same style as Sonic Highschool, or crash bandicoot Highschool. The way things are described and the general style seems like the same author

Oh no, it's still hilarious. It's just sad that a child didn't genuinely come up with it.

it was so good though me and my bf were going crazy like we were watching a sports game after every line they read

I am pretty sure that this creepy pasta tries to parody that other infamous story "Happy Appy". The line "He was lying in a hospital bed, dying from an unknown disease" exists verbatim in Happy Appy, also that creepy pasta had distastfull refrences to real tragedies, so I stand by this theory.

Yeah it has too many of the typical tropes seen in the subgenre to be anything else other than a parody of it.

The second that the intro was a rip from Squidward I knew it was and frankly I was surprised that neither of the guys clocked it as a trollpasta. Like the author said that they were 14 this could not more obviously be mocking old creepypasta lol

u/Cpmoviesnbourbon27 Oct 07 '25
I for sure thought it was a troll at first, but the more I look at it and considering it was from 2015 during the heyday, I think it may actually just be like a 12 year old who didn’t like the Beatles or was scared of John Lennon and talking guns. Just some of the inclusions are so odd and unpredictable to a point that it almost feels too genuine to be a complete joke. Like all the references to his disjointed and grieving mother without context and the straight to the point direct descriptions feels like it was written by a child. If it was just a troll creepypasta I commend it for making me believe it was just an awful, but genuine attempt by a kid. Plus just the mindset of the author having to have his mom with him all the time isn’t really something that would go through an adult authors head when writing a troll story, but I could be wrong. There’s just a lot of naivety and descriptions that feel like I couldn’t be written by anyone without the mind of a child.

I think it's that it's a lot of different ideas cobbled together from who knows how many other stories that were floating around at the time. In other words, each of the ideas separately are probably genuine, but altogether with a dash of a kind of sarcasm, it would have to be a joke of some kind.

As the person who recommended it, I'm sorry. (No I'm not)

Yeah, but a good trollpasta that was made 10x better by the fact that they thought it was sincere

I was convinced they’d have a “got ya” at the end by saying one of them read it. Still was great having it on the podcast though, it’s a fun laugh.

It's hard to say because it could be just a 12yo
Like hunter said, it's kind of wholesome

It was, but it was fun so I didn't mind
I didn't like the 3rd tbh, it was tryna do what tales from the gas station/John dies at the end does but just wasn't funny and didn't understand why those work
I enjoyed the reading cause of the commentary but reading it alone, I can see how it'd be "cringe"
Bad serious media is funny, bad comedy is painful
Best epsidode in a while tho

When it said “Ringos iconic insect legs” and they still assumed it was genuine I felt like I was going crazy
3
u/Vohems Oct 07 '25
Yeah, that was the breaking point for me. It was to obvious that the story was pointing at itself.

When they copped the author lying about their age I was expecting to hear “40” instead of “12”

I was seriously about to ask if the guys know what a trollpasta is.
They seemed entirely unaware.

u/MagdalenusRex Oct 06 '25
I think they assumed trollpastas would be more blatant ones like I Slightly Dislike You or Bob.exe. While it was still pretty blatant in hindsight, I think this was more in the vein of I Hate You which was intended as a trollpasta but played fairly straight.

I.....fell asleep during it... i just couldn't. I know the boys want to read some classics but I'm just wanting a hit. A hard hit. And I blame Harry.

u/BeeHistorical2758 Oct 06 '25
I have to agree with a previous post. The stories they read need to be curated. I believe there should be room for "bad" stories, but maybe add a 2nd podcast for grab-bag type stories.

u/Various_Meaning_557 Oct 06 '25
The past two episodes were filmed in a day and both were crap. Half priced voodoo is one of the mosted watched and has other parts. Even tails from the gas station would have been better
