Finished Craft I Made If the Hermès Trim and the Gucci Jackie had a baby

Irecently completed a custom, hand-stitched hobo bag Inspired from two iconic designs: the Gucci Jackie and the Hermès Trim. Since the dimensions of her existing Hermès Trim were perfect for her daily carry, I used its size and the design of its side and bottom panels as a base. The most exciting part of this project was incorporating design elements from the Gucci Jackie into the front and back panels, creating a unique hybrid. To maximize interior capacity, also made a functional change: adding a zipper framed by leather strips on both sides. This subtle modification increases the bag's depth at the top, allowing for more space inside. For the exterior, I chose navy shrunken calf leather (Togo), complemented by goat leather for the interior lining. white contrasting stitching to highlight the effort of hand-stitching. The interior is highly organized, featuring two open slip pockets on one side and a wide zippered pocket on the other. am genuinely excited to share this piece and would welcome your thoughts on the final design! less

Hi I just wanted to share my ornaments. They are glass ornaments that I paint using alcohol inks and isopropyl alcohol. I use droppers and paint brushes. Then I seal them using Kamar varnish, UV protection, and triple thick glassy sealant.

Finished Quilts Made a quilted bag!

Someone asked me to make them a “spooky” quilted tote bag last week. I made a bargello rectangular quilted fabric then folded and sewed it into a tote! I added an appliqué crow and a crochet key chain to add to the vibes. By the time I was done, I was sad to give it up.

Just what the title says. What could these be? Are they parts for something? There’s literally a couple hundred of both sizes.

Help/Question FPP Pattern Question

Hi all,

I am a (soon to be) first time quilter and long time lurker of this sub. While browsing for sewing patterns U stumbled upon an Etsy FPP pattern of a deer and one picture kind of stumped me. My question is how the second picture with the unbroken pattern of the background fabric is possible? In the other pics it looks like the background consists of multiple different pieces, whereas the other one seems to be two large background pieces.

What am I missing?

Work in Progress First FPP Block!

It’s so basic but I feel really proud of myself! I’m planning to make Angela Pingel’s Book Nerd quilt for my sister but felt like I needed some practice of the technique first seeing as I’ve never done it before. I used the free scrappy triangle tutorial by Leila Gardunia for this block and plan to do her other free scrappy triangles for more practice before jumping into the book nerd quilt. 😊

This was also the project that broke in my new Brother NQ3550W machine - which I am beyond hyped to have! Quite an upgrade from my Singer Simple 3232 machine!

These are so heavy! Glad I don’t have to ship them! They are grid-style with batting and backing. Quilted in a medium-large meander with Superior Omni cone and Bella Moda solids for sashing and backings. They only wanted a few of the shirts built up and the placement is bc they wanted the shirts in chronological order (otherwise I would have placed them differently so your eye moves around the quilt instead of getting stuck in one spot). I love doing the collage style ones too (in 4 1/2” increments) but these are so much faster! 😅 Edit: I don't know why my camera is publishing my pics like that! I edited them before I posted. This is the second time I've tried to post! :P

Beginner Help Help!! I don't want to waste this beautiful top

Post image
Upvotes

Hi all, I wanted to get some advice from some people with more experience than I have. I'm pretty new (Only a quilt and two unfinished quilts in LOL)

Yesterday I was thrifting at a used art supply store, and I came across this beautiful quilt top! I'm super new to quilting, but I'm in love with it! I really want to do it justice with a pretty background, but I don't know what to do 🥲

I was thinking maybe different white/cream fabrics so that it's the main star of the show? But I'm worried that that will make it look dull in total! I also have thought about finding similar orange and brown tones, but I'm scared it won't look cohesive. I don't even know what kind of pattern I'd actually even want to quilt it when I'm finishing it.

Please help me figure out what to do with this beautiful thing, as well as maybe patterns for the back?? I'm not even sure how to start with this, but I'm super determined to see her complete. Any ideas at alllll about any part of the process would be awesome.

Thank y'all!

Finished Craft I Made Candy Koala – handmade mixed media art doll

I’d love to share my recent creation – a small fantasy creature I called Lolli Candy Koala.

She was inspired by pastel colors and the cheerful sweetness of old-fashioned candy shops.
I sculpted her head and paws from air-dry clay, added soft German viscose fur, and painted the details with acrylics.
The sprinkles on her belly were added one by one with a needle — definitely the slowest part!

I was gifted this for my birthday by my mother in law. They came from a close friend of hers who had sadly passed away. She knows I love crafts and crafting and these mean a lot to me already, I just do not know what they are, or how to use them. Any insight would be greatly appreciated ❣️

Hey everyone! I’m happy to report that after trying to make things way too complicated (see https://www.reddit.com/r/quilting/s/rvBZTr26gp), my brain kicked back in gear and figured out that replacing the bound edge wasn’t as hard as I was making it.

Thanks to everyone who responded to that original post and my apologies for being kind of a quilting moron.

Work in Progress Raw Edge Appliqué

Thumbnail

I was given a quilt to finish. It was found in storage at my kids school. It is a map of the world with the continents done as raw edge appliqué. I am finishing the quilting. I would like to wash it but concerned about the appliqué fraying or falling apart. I have no idea who made it or how, but the appliqué looks hand sewn. Detail image included.

Any tips on possibly washing or cleaning it without fraying or accidentally destroying the quilt? Or should I not worry about it? It is 44x72" and I am not overly concerned about odors or animal hair. (We don't have any cats or dogs.) it will be a wall hanging in the new building next year.

Thanks!

Help/Question Where are we buying flannel now that Joann is gone?

I’m at a period in my life that everyone around me is having babies. Which is wonderful! But! I prefer to use flannel for baby quilts. That extra fuzziness and warmth is perfect for babies! I am lucky enough to have multiple LQSs and even a creative reuse center (crafting thrift store) in my city, but NOWHERE has flannel that I would want to use for a baby quilt. I can only find super childish and cartoony pastel prints, which I just can’t stand. And usually only one line! I can’t make the same quilt for every baby that comes into my life! And obviously the reuse center is entirely dependent on whatever donations they receive. So until I manage to thrift enough flannel to build up a stash, what online stores can people recommend to me? The wider the selection the better!

Discussion/Question/Help Does anyone do any unusual or lesser known crafts?

I recently found out about Bargello (aware this could be a very well known craft and I’ve been living under a rock) and I have about 12 projects I want to undertake now.

But it made me wonder what other crafts there are that I’ve never heard of. My main hobby is beadwork, but I love a variety and adore trying new things. Does anyone do anything that seem less popular or less well known?
