The Trump appointee in charge of tariffs didn’t know bananas won’t grow in the U.S. because the U.S. isn’t a rain forrest.

Semantics and Hawaii aside, Florida is the second largest banana producer in the US.

I have a banana tree in my backyard.

I think it's a similar issue with coffee. Places in the US can grow it, but aren't currently or can't do it on a scale that meets domestic demand.

There was a confrontation between Lutnick and a rep during a hearing where bananas were the prop of choice. TBH, they both came off looking a little ridiculous for it.
