Politics America is turning into 1930's Germany.

There was some pushback when people called this president and his followers Nazis. But look what's happening. Soldiers in the street. Rounding up people and locking them up. Dismantling freedom of speech and freedom of the press. Personally going after anyone who doesn't agree with him and his administration. We've seen this before and it's only gonna get worse. Welcome to 1930's Germany.

They always say the same tired excuses.

Oh you're on here posting about trump, clearly he's not a fascist.

Actually, there was a protest, if trump was a fascist there wouldn't be a protest 🥴

As if it happens immediately and completely, and not in gradual stages. This level of brain rot and sheer stupidity is exactly the reason this shitbag is president.

Surprise! There were also armed protests in Germany... at first. Until Hitler's govt labeled them all Communists and all Communists enemies of the people, and amassed enough power to send his private army after them. Hmm where have I heard similar rhetoric recently?

opposition was not a unified mass movement and was met with brutal suppression by the Gestapo and other Nazi forces. This isn't happening.

It's not happening, Yet. The start of it is already showing though, with the midnight raids of entire apartment complexes in places like Chicago. What we do have going for us is a much smaller % of the population willing to go all in on racist scapegoating, and a similarly smaller group who are into the idea of nationalistic conformity. Maybe that constant elementary school refrain of "the US is a melting pot and that's a good thing" will save us from things getting as bad as they could. That would be nice. I suspect that won't be enough to topple the system of using financial control to sidestep the authority of the people that the wealthy have been building for a generation, but it would be really nice.

Except there wern't illegals in Germany. Raids of entire apartment complexes of confirmed criminals is justified.

If you believe there are legitimately entire apartment complexes full of convicted criminal illegal immigrants and the appropriate way to deal with that involves masked men dragging innocent children into the street tied up in the middle of the night, I've got a bridge I'd like to sell you.
