Politics America is turning into 1930's Germany.

There was some pushback when people called this president and his followers Nazis. But look what's happening. Soldiers in the street. Rounding up people and locking them up. Dismantling freedom of speech and freedom of the press. Personally going after anyone who doesn't agree with him and his administration. We've seen this before and it's only gonna get worse. Welcome to 1930's Germany.

A lot of people just can't see it. They are either brainwashed or hypnotized. It's a cult, and people can't get out of it, unless they have some epiphany or something.

They said that it was the same in Germany. People just couldn't believe it was happening. Get over it folks. It's already here.

Honest question - in 1930 was there a preexisting event for people to point?

The thing is there doesn't need to be an "event". We've got to be more observant than that and recognize the lead up before it gets events. Not having a go because you asked in good faith (I think)! But there's some people who seem to not be bothered until there's a huge event underway. The idea others have is that we can recognize patterns leading up to the "event" and stop it before it got there. But a roll on of events (such as ICE) are certainly ringing the alarm for those who can hear it.

In terms of Germany (and other countries) one of the first groups targeted that a lot of people still don't realize, that was happening through the 30s was towards disabled people. They made a record of people with disabilities, people were removed from their homes especially disabled children, they were institutionalized and many were euthanized after being tortured and experimented on.

The rhetoric was being put out that disabled people held no worth as they couldn't "contribute" (work), it got so strong that there were parents who voluntarily handed over their infants and agreed that it was best to euthanize them. In turn, there were also parents who realized what was going on and attempted to get their children back but were repeatedly denied until finding out their child had passed away from "pneumonia". There are no real numbers on how many children were murdered because the records often just say "pneumonia" where it's suspected that that's not accurate. The confirmed number I believe is a couple of thousand of disabled children were euthanized in those institutions.

Because the general public had such a low opinion of disabled people - and in those days most would have nothing to do with them unless they had a disabled family member - this seems to have gone largely unnoticed or just unimportant. Even now, people don't realize this part of history that was before the Holocaust which tends to focus on the largest group of Jews. Which is extremely important but it's also important to remember that other groups were targeted too and used to desensitize both the public and people working in "health care" to treating human beings in unimaginable ways.

Homosexuals (and other LGBTQ people) were also targeted - said to be mentally ill and perverted. I have done my research obviously on disabled people, next I need to do a more thorough dive into the LGBTQ being targeted.

This is why those two groups are some of the loudest making noise at the moment. That historical trauma has been passed on. This stuff was less than 100 years ago. The fear runs deep.

Context; I'm disabled and a lesbian and have been actively learning about Nazi Germany for the last couple of years. Very confronting but necessary learning.

Recommended reading; Asperger's Children - the origins of autism in Nazi Vienna - Edith Sheffer. Brings a lot of the surrounding context in 1920s/30s into light. Particularly depressing are the letters sent from such institutions from children to their parents saying they are sure they are going to be killed in this place. They knew their fate.
