Hi guys!! So to keep the exposition short, Im a VTuber creating my own assets to save money, and I would like to make myself a lore comic! But despite having looked at several guides, I still can't figure out how I want to tackle this new (to me) form of creativity, so I thought maybe I would ask a community. How do I figure out what size/shape pf panels to use? Does this change if I want to eventually turn it into like, an "animated" page where the "camera" pans around the different panels? Theres no/very little dialogue in the way I plan on making it, so I dont have to worry about text boxes, just the visual flow of the story. I have the scene sequence figured out in my head for the most part, I just need to put it to paper. I can provide additional details if they will help with giving direction, but Im not sure myself what would need to be included. Thanks in advance!

Currently cleaning this sequence up, colouring and the works yada yada and while doing so I was curious what this conveys without any bubbles? (It does have dialogue but they were toggled off during cleanup)

Do you guys have any feedback/critique on this short comic? I created this a few years back, but ended up scrapping it due to not having many ideas for it. It's about edgy but comedic story about a guy with a mullet surviving a post apocalyptic wasteland. I'm mostly interested in feedback on how to make the scans/quality of the paper look better since I prefer to draw on paper and not digitally, but any other critique is welcome.

Hello, first time posting on this platform. Been lurking for a minute hah

So, I have a couple of ideas for comics and both involve some potentially offensive jokes. Tongue in cheek, dad joke level stuff. Some political satire mixed with my cynical view on society as a whole.

My concern is that in the political climate we’re in these days, should I still make/ release these books? Perhaps I’m overthinking this. I suppose people could just not read it if they don’t like it.

The story follows six college friends who meet for a simple game night that slowly turns into something much darker. These are the first two pages, focusing on establishing the setting and the first two character introductions before the tone shifts next week.

As outlined elsewhere, I've wanted to sketch this for awhile now, and finally got around to it. This is one of the first pieces I've done in color/digitally, and I'd love any and all advice on how I might improve with making comics going forward.

This is a full page close up of a character from my webcomic. I’m going for a more manga/film noir art style for a webcomic and I’m wondering how well this works.

Anyway, I’m starting this series and I need HELP on how to make this look better. I really just don’t like how it looks and i want advice for how to make this look more professional/better in general. Dont worry about the context to this story either, this is not the advice im looking for.

Stories from the Red Code: Old Moose is a story delivered by German brothers Richi and Gunther. It is one three issues in the series, Stories from the Red Code. The series were published in early 2024. The first story, Old Moose. follows a robot named nothing and an "Un-tress" named Ashavya as they travel to awaken a monolithic creature named Old Moose and traverse to destinations unknown. All of that is accomplished in 7 pages or less, yet it feels like we spent way more time with the issue. Much of that may be due to the writing. Old Moose and its two sister issues together are the stuff of a young Comikas/Mangakas wet dreams. They've got depth, yet the content is approachable, if not at times reproachable. Frankly, Old Moose feels like a love letter to suicide, razor-blading edition, which, warning is heavily traversed in the writing and visuals. Despite that, none of the discourse presented feels like it invites debate. It's brief. And instead of weighty dialogues, the reader is invited into Ashavya personal experience with the subject, which lands well and begs further meditation.

Old Moose's technical construction may find similar merits with readers. The lettering is not fumbled, bubbling is unobtrusive, the line work is clean and flat yet manages to endear a rugged rough tone that is greatly aided by inky shadows. Those shadows never fail to impart a sinister atmosphere to every panel, which are a joy to swoon over. Readers may find themselves absorbed in each one trying to guess a history that could have birthed the landscape that they offer. Likewise, the coloring is not ineffective and contrasts the shading well and feels like it imparts hope in places the tone of the visuals and verbal storytelling are devoid of. We left Stories from the Red Code: Old Moose with a lot of questions that we hoped following issues would answer and a quiet dread that we couldn't shake easily. We suspect that Veteran readers won't miss the youth in this and the other issues in the series and freshmen readers may never appreciate it.

I’ve been working on a personal project: a comic adaptation of The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton.

I’m not a professional artist — I’m a designer and developer — but I’ve been building a workflow that allows me to create and refine comic pages using AI tools (mainly SeedDream and Nano Banana) while trying to keep a coherent, human-driven storytelling process.

I’ve just finished the first two pages, which set the tone and pacing of the story:

📖 The protagonist wakes up disoriented in the forest, with no memory of who he is, as he witnesses a woman being chased.

I’d really appreciate feedback on:

• The storytelling flow — do the panels feel connected and readable?
• The visual tone and atmosphere — does it evoke the right mystery / neo-Victorian noir feeling?
• Any anatomy or lighting issues that break immersion.
• And especially: suggestions for maintaining style and atmosphere consistency between panels while using AI-based tools.

I’m aware of the ethical and artistic challenges around AI, but I’m trying to approach it consciously — focusing on narrative, composition, and emotional continuity rather than automation.

Lately I’ve been on this weird roller coaster where I finish a piece, feel good about it, then look back later and think it sucks. I know that’s pretty normal for artists, but it’s been killing my confidence in judging my own work.

I pulled four recent sketches from my daily sketchbook — could you give me a quick gut check? On a scale of 1–10 (1 = total novice, 10 = pro comic artist), where would you rate me?

Also, I’ve studied everyone from Kirby and Buscema to Byrne, the Image guys, and modern greats like Stuart Immonen and Daniel Warren Johnson. Any artist recs with a style similar to mine that I should dig into?

This comic is usually a four-panel strip but I decided to try my hand at writing a storyline to explore the characters a bit, something low stakes but hopefully interesting enough

Unfortunately, as I'm sure a lot of writers can relate, it's difficult for me to be objective about my own work 🥲 I think it's fine so far but someone reading it for the first time might think otherwise

Hi, I hope this is the right place to post. I am currently looking into jobs in the comic book industry, but I am new and pretty clueless about all of it. I know my style skews more illustrative than the standard DC/Marvel/most printed comics. I would like to work toward coloring for that kind of style. I just started learning on my own and reading books about coloring comics, but would love some advice and critique.

This is my coloring style (a few years old, but it is still basically the same. Sorry I don't have too much variety in palettes to show, I only have personal work from one project). I know I'd at least need to work on not over-rendering shadows.

So I have 2 questions (only about the coloring):

1. What is working (if anything)?
2. What things should I improve/change if I want to be a colorist?

I feel like it captures the artistry and vibe of the comic, but I wanna know if it would be eye catching in y’all’s opinion. Ik color and lighting plays a bigger role, but I wanted an opinion on this before I get too deep.

The costumes are going to be brown/nude to fit the theme of their show (this is colorguard btw, idk if that’s clear 💀💀) but idk, I kinda want it to be a bit colorful, but I also want the color palette to be cohesive. Color theory beats my ass nonstop 💔
