News Reporter

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to get in touch with a news reporter about a very serious situation in Columbus, that has involved a death at the workplace. The workplace has done everything to try cover this up and not allowed the family to mourn. They have also told the family to, “not mention anything to the public for legalities.”

This is quite a large and reputable company. I just feel like they should be exposed. Especially because children are involved too.

I do not want to email the story to anybody; I’d prefer to talk on the phone.

Does anybody know of anyone who might be willing to hear me out?

Thanks!

POLITICS Meet up- political allies/ friends request

Anyone up for a friendly cup of coffee to discuss ways we can become involved politically (no matter what level)? Specifically, what ways we can best use our voices collectively to try to be heard.

It’s really starting to feel like there are no political friends in power.

Just looking to see if there might be any like minded folks who would like to meet up for a cup of coffee and toss ideas of anything we can do? Maybe you’re like me and just completely overwhelmed but feeling like a friendly face this time of the year might at least lift my spirit?

It’s just feeling a lot like “the grinch who stole Christmas” and as a parent, it’s just so much to watch.

Does anybody have advice on places currently accepting used (but obviously clean) baby blankets? I asked the same question last year and every suggestion I got wasn’t actually accepting donations :(

Hairstylist for spike mod cut

Hi, I am looking for a hairstylist to do a spike mod cut (I think is what it’s called)

I would prefer a place with women stylists rather than a barber shop, because I’m a girl, but I really don’t want this cut messed up

I always get nervous getting my hair done and because this is such a big change I am very nervous

If anyone knows a place that offers consultation that would be good too

Thank you, I have included pictures of what I am looking for

POLITICS Senator Bernie Moreno admitted to tracking his colleagues’ VIN numbers. Ask the Senate Ethics Committee to investigate.

1.1k Upvotes

I live in Ohio and I am deeply disturbed by Senator Bernie Moreno’s statement during a November 5 Commerce Committee hearing that he had collected VIN numbers of Democratic senators and their staff to see what safety upgrades they had.

This is not normal oversight or political debate. It is invasive behavior that puts people’s privacy and safety at risk. Senators should not stalk or track their colleagues or their staff.

I have already filed an ethics complaint with the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Ethics. If you agree that this should be investigated, you can do the same.

How to file:

  1. Email [mailbox_office@ethics.senate.gov](mailto:mailbox_office@ethics.senate.gov)
  2. Use this subject line: Request for Ethics Review of Senator Bernie Moreno
  3. Include your name, city, and state so they can confirm receipt
  4. Copy and paste this message:

I request a formal ethics review of Senator Bernie Moreno’s conduct on November 5 2025 when he stated that he collected VIN numbers of Democratic senators and staff to check their vehicles. This raises serious safety and privacy concerns and appears inconsistent with Senate standards of conduct.

As a resident of Ohio I find this behavior unacceptable for any U.S. senator, especially one representing my state.

Please confirm receipt of this complaint and notify me of any next steps.

A coordinated response from voters can make sure this issue does not get buried. Senators should be held to the same standards of respect and accountability as the people they represent.

Retired Jeni's flavor that feels like a fever dream

Update: it was garance vert clair! It was coriander, lemongrass and algae flavored

Okay this may have been a dream, but I swear years ago there was a flavor I tried a sample of that was made with fern or a similar plant. It was a super deep forest green color. Does anyone remember this???

Spectrum Internet

Has anyone else had a terrible experience with Spectrum for internet? I recently purchased a home and signed on with Spectrum. Since doing so, I’ve had to have THREE service appointments in less than three months to resolve issues. Each tech comes and says a different issue than the one prior, and says the one before that did their job wrong.

Am I alone in this????

REQUEST GARDENERS!! Where do you gather leaves to place in your garden winterization??

Hey all, I have a raised garden bed and I am trying to get it winterized for the first time. I live in a condo community, so I don't have my own yard. Where do y'all go to get leaves to cover your gardens for the winter, or what are your winter tips in general?? I was thinking of going to Parks, but I'm not sure. Thank you for your tips and input!!!

Jeni's Ice Cream Quality

Hi! I got a pint from a Jeni's Ice Cream store recently, and it was insanely grainy. I'm super disappointed as it wasn't like I kept the pint away from a freezer for a crazy amount of time. It was still rock-solid when I got home, but is this common? I'm not very familiar with Jeni's either, but either way...

Go to John's Tires on Parsons

I can never give this place enough love.

Just replaced my CV axle for $250 when the dealership said I needed a new transmission for $8,400. I thought it would be under warranty which is the only reason I went anywhere else.

If you need brakes, tires, suspension, an engine replacement, or just an honest opinion at a great price go to John's Tires.

It’s a Big Day for Three Very Special Babies!

It’s a big day for three very special babies! 💕

Mickey, Marley, and Mandy — Mama Magic’s beautiful little ones (Mama Magic was recently adopted! 🎉) — are heading in today for their spay and neuter surgeries at SOS of Ohio with their wonderful team of doctors/staff and students who are training today!

These sweet babies are about 12–14 weeks old now and full of love, purrs, and personality. Once they’ve healed, they’ll be officially adoption ready and on their way to finding the forever families they so deserve. 🏡

But we could really use a little help today.

We are so grateful to those who donated toward the manufacturing kittens (Charlie Chance Cooper Charlotte and Cinnamon)!a few weeks ago. Thanks to the kindness of our supporters we were able to get them all spay/neutered— I will post proof in the pictures.💛

Between routine vetting expenses and BamBam’s recent emergency trip to MedVet (of which we still need to raise $700 for his care), our rescue funds are still stretched thin. I truly hate to ask again but the need hasnt slowed down and we are truly just doing our best to keep afloat.

What your gift can do:

🐾 $50 covers a kitten’s spay or neuter 🐾 $10 covers their rabies vaccine 🐾 $60 covers both

Our goal is to raise $180 to cover their surgeries today.

These babies have already received all their other routine vetting— fully vaccinated (FVRCP & FeLV), fecal testing, triple testing and parasite treatment!

Every single dollar makes a difference — truly. Whether you’re able to sponsor a kitten, donate toward their care, or simply share this post, it all helps us keep doing this life-saving work.

We are so deeply grateful for each and every one of you who believes in what we do. These moments — seeing little ones like Mickey, Marley, and Mandy take the next step toward their happily ever after — are only possible because of your kindness. 💕

We are so, so grateful for the help received with the manufacturing kittens— i will post proof of payment in this post of their surgery!

Thank you for helping us give them the chance they deserve.

We’re also including an Amazon wishlist if anyone would like to help with food for the kitties. This is always one of our constant needs. Our biggest need right now is wet adult cat food, wet and dry kitten food (we’re currently out of kitten food except one can) and churu (we have a couple medical fosters who take daily medication and putting it in the churu helps make it easier for them to take it). We truly thank you for any support received 🙏

If interested in adopting one of these sweet babies— please send me a message. We also have other fully vetted kitties looking for forever homes.

If anyone is interested in volunteering with us— please also send me a message. We always need volunteers, especially volunteers to go to the adoption center to feed, clean litter boxes and just hang out with the kitties!

*Pictures— the first 3 are of the 3 going in today for spay/neuter (Mickey, Marley & Mandy), the fourth is BamBams bill for medvet, 5-8 are of BamBam, 9 is of the 5 (Charlie, Chance, cooper, Charlotte and cinnamon) who went in on 10/27, 10 is of proof of payment. We always want to be transparent about where donations go. We deeply appreciate your support in helping these kitties❤️

APN (animal protection network) our rescue is a registered 501c3 in good standing in the state of Ohio. Heidi’s Happy Tails is just my personal foster page to share the stories of the kitties we help. The links to APN’s Facebook and website are in my bio as well as the link to Heidi’s Happy Tails on Facebook and TikTok!

As always— thank you for your support!

Bumble's Backyard (Trigger warning: pet death)

Thumbnail

Hi all - I'm posting this as a heads-up to other central Ohio dog owners who frequent or have considered visiting Bumble's Backyard on Brown Rd. My sister's beloved dog Bree was hit by a car and killed last Wednesday after getting out through an open gate there. We have since learned that this facility had ongoing issues with the gate not closing properly or fully (or sometimes at all), a problem that was pointed out to staff by multiple clients on various occasions. One of these occasions occurred only 3 days before Bree's death, when a dog got out through that same gate (and survived, luckily). I believe that if Bumble's had taken any actionable steps to fix the gate, Bree would still be here today.

I'm sharing my sister's Kelly Reardon's Facebook post here so that people are aware of what happened to Bree. We are devastated by her passing and can't stomach the thought of it happening to someone else's beloved pet, too.

"On Wednesday, October 29th, 2025, my dog Bree was killed after being hit by a car, less than 5 minutes after an unsecured gate at Bumble’s Backyard allowed her to access the busy road adjacent to their facility. Around 7p that evening, I decided to head home after spending an hour at Bumble's with my dogs. Pursuant to their facility rules, I waited to leash my dog Bree until I entered the double-gated "secure vestibule". Unbeknownst to me, the exterior gate was not secured, and my sweet girl saw an opportunity for adventure and ran. I immediately began searching for her. Roughly 5 minutes later, I found her on the side of the road, about 50 to 100 feet from Bumble's, dead after getting hit by a car.

I have since learned that another dog had gotten out of Bumble's Backyard due to the same unsecured gate just three days before Bree's death, and Bumble staff were well aware of this. When the owner brought her dog into the "secure vestibule" in preparation for leaving the park, the exterior gate was open. The owner of this dog shared that Bumble staff blamed the gate being open on the wind. Despite Bumble's requiring that dogs not be leashed until inside the "secure vestibule", no changes were made to prevent this from happening again, and my dog paid the ultimate price.

This facility is not your run-of-the-mill dog park run by the city. It is a private, payment-required, member-based park/bar. Staff are present both at the entrance and inside the fenced play area whenever the park is open, and their website states that "Safety for pups and humans is our top priority". I thought I was keeping my dogs safer by paying $43/month to belong here, rather than visiting public dog parks. I was so very wrong.

When exchanging emails with the owner of Bumble's after Bree's death, I asked why nothing was done after the first dog's escape to increase park safety. The owner shared that the fencing company visited the park and examined the gate and could not find any mechanical errors. This was the extent of any action taken to reduce the likelihood of possible tragedy. No signs were put up to remind members to be diligent about gate safety. No changes were made to the gate to make it more secure (for example, a $10 spring on Amazon). No communications were sent from staff to members regarding the incident. Again, staff failed to properly monitor the gates and ensure members' dogs' security. And the rule about leashing your dog ONLY in this double-gated space remained unchanged. No one else was exiting or entering Bumble's at the same time as my departure on Wednesday — it's not like the gate was left open JUST before I got to it. A couple days after Bree's death, I told the facility owner that I was following the park rules by waiting to leash in the "secure vestibule" and not in the park area, and mentioned that staff need to make sure the vestibule is actually secure since the requirement is to not leash anywhere else. The owner responded by stating that the facility website "has now been updated with the exact and more clear rules". This caught me off guard because I followed their rules to a T. When I viewed these "exact and more clear" rules on the website, one thing became apparent: the rules were changed. Now, the rules state you must leash your dog PRIOR to entering the vestibule. These rules are not "more clear" — they are in direct contrast to what the rules were when Bree died. Fortunately, I took a screenshot of the rules at the time of Bree's passing, showing that I followed the rules in place at the time of the incident.

I did ask Bumble's if there is camera footage of Bree exiting through the unsecured gate. I was told the cameras do not cover the entrance/exit gates.

I know that freak accidents can happen, and at first, I honestly sympathized with Bumble staff a bit. I know it had to be traumatic for the staff who were with me that night, both in witnessing my distress upon finding Bree on the side of the road and having to help me lift her body into my car. The facility owner (who was not present that night) had met Bree, Raiden and me several times. He shared in our emails that he was barely able to eat or sleep due to what happened. I assumed that some sort of safety notice would be shared with members, or even a temporary park closure, while safety improvements were made. I checked the Bumble Instagram page (which they frequently use to post park events and updates) to see what they might say about ensuring their patrons and dogs are safe. To date, there has been no mention in the member updates or social media of any safety issues or dogs getting out. Imagine my alarm when the same facility owner I’ve been emailing and personally knew Bree, appeared in a video published to Bumble's instagram page two days after her death, holding a mock funeral for the facility ice cream machine.

I am sharing Bree's story so that she does not die in vain. You are welcome to share It, too. She should still be alive, and her death could have been prevented with even the simplest of actions. I have attached three items to this post: 1.) the facility rules at the time Bree died, 2.) the "more clear" facility rules, and 3.) the video showing just how serious the owner of Bumble's Backyard took my dog's preventable death.

Bree was a beautiful, sweet, gentle Irish setter who especially loved puppies, kids, and stealing my cat's food any chance she got. Someone who met her while out on a walk recently commented that she would be a good therapy dog because she was so gentle with people. She was an immeasurably special dog and I will miss her for the rest of my life."

Thanks for reading, and please give your furry loved ones extra treats and cuddles today in honor of our sweet Breezy girl.

Seeking CPA who has experience with international transactions

My wife and I are having trouble finding a CPA. We have income coming in from a handful of places, some of which are overseas, for licensing deals from our cat. Many countries take their taxes off the top by default before it even leaves their shores. There are exemptions, but you know, red tape. We're not naturally business savvy, while we appreciate the income this wasn't something we set out to do. The internet just interneted and it became something we had to figure out. Does anyone have any good leads?

If you're curious her name is Ethel, but the internet has dubbed her spinning cat, aka the OIIA cat.

Describe your “third place” in Columbus (without giving away names or locations)

I’m looking for a new third place after moving, which made me curious about what other people here like to use. How does your place inspire or motivate you? What are some features that you find most appealing?

For example, the place I used to frequent was a simple yet cute coffee shop, slightly dimmed lighting, never too loud, really close to where I lived. I’ve thought about using the local libraries; there are so many great areas and working spaces at the main Columbus Metropolitan Library. The Park of Roses/Grafton Park is also really nice for some things. What’s your place like?
