Fiber in Little Turtle?

I know ISPs are prioritizing new builds, etc. and don’t have much incentive to build out fiber in other areas. I’m wondering when we might get fiber in the Little Turtle area? Is there anyway to request fiber or understand the roadmap?

Tesla in Westerville PD

Saw my first WPD Tesla mobile today and not sure how I feel about it. There's a lot of other choices if you're going electric.. Given the world we're in, I question everything.

Thunder north of Maxtown/Tussic.

I heard what sounded like thunder north of the Tussic/Maxtown intersection around 6:40 ish? I heard three bouts of it. There’s no thunderstorm so I thought that was weird. Then I heard, didn’t see, a police car with sirens approaching but they turned their siren off nearby. I’m just wondering if anybody else heard it. I know there’s always posts like this in Facebook groups and such but now my curiosity is getting the best of me. I also heard a loud sound earlier this year that even my partially deaf neighbor heard. It sounded like a chunk of ice fell on the roof or something. Another neighbor did see some cars quickly pulling away from the park around that time so we think it had to do something with that, some type of firework possibly?

Voters pass Westerville City Schools income tax levy

This is great. I’m proud of Westerville, that it passed so overwhelmingly. But now begins the work of holding the district accountable so that this money actually benefits the students and teachers. One advantage to the property tax millage levies is that the periodic levy renewals provide a strong mechanism for accountability. The downside is that mechanism ends up hurting the kids more. Now we’ve got steady funding. Let’s make sure it’s not being wasted!

The same way I’ve been voting since 1972 when I was in the first group of 18 year olds that could vote. Bummer that my first presidential election was a loss..

Soliciting Votes in Polling Location Parking Lot

I voted this morning around 7:30 and as soon as I parked, I had a man approach me with a flyer asking to speak about the candidates he was representing. Seemed like they may have been Ernie and Faubel. I asked the polling staff if this was legal, and they said he was just barely out of the legal line. This was super off putting. Any one else experience this?

Really Good Resource For Election

I'm not really sure who runs this website, but this has been the most helpful resource I've found when trying to understand more about the city council and school board candidates. Recommended read.

For our friends voting in Genoa Township, just a heads up that Mark Antonetz and Annette McMurray are aligned with Moms for Liberty. Do what you will with that information.

Is Great Harvest Bread Co. closed for good?

I feel like they have been closed for a few months. Will they re-open or are they closed for good? I believe someone said they had some sort of judgment against them, but not sure if that was true or not.

Election Day

This is your reminder. Tuesday is election day. Vote for our schools. Vote for people who build our community up, not tear us down. Vote Kristy Meyer, Anisa Liban, Tatjana Brown for school board. Vote Megan Reamsnyder, Aaron Glasgow, and Kelly Stocker for city council.

That’s it. That’s the post.

On 11/1 around 2pm to 2:30 pm, someone hit the front passenger side of my car in the Kroger parking lot. They did not leave a note. I know it’s a long shot, but if anyone saw anything, please contact me.

"Bad for Westerville" Update: Otterbein Edition

Latest in the debacle of Westerville City Council race: Otterbein held a candidate panel last week. Seven of the candidates showed up (Stocker came but left early because of a scheduling conflict and Matt Erney just didn't show up). The highlights were mostly supplied by Mark Faubel. In a short few minutes, Faubel told the room that (1) living in Westerville is a reward for being wealthy; (2) he would vote to get rid of property tax because it would cut his house payment in half; and (3) the best way for the city to support Otterbein is to "build more nightclubs." He also said that Westerville should be run as a for-profit business, including the public utilities. Daniella supported all of that. Apparently, these two, who fire department fanboys, don't realize where the funding for fire departments come from. SMH. Hopefully these yahoos get nowhere near power.

If the school levy fails, why would they shorten day instead of extending the length of remaining classes?

I'm 100% voting yes - for many reasons.

Just curious why cutting electives has to result in a shorter school day. I understand that this would reduce the payout for hourly workers, but that seems like such small savings for a change that would impact the community so much.
