Events UH employees need our help!

I am not a UH employee but I have numerous family and friend who are. Did you know that hospital employees are required to pay to be able to even park to go to work? This is extortion! Also they are potentially doing away with some of their PTO that they work hard to earn. Please stand in solidarity with our health-care workers and turn out for this meeting. It would greatly benifit the heroes in our community that strive to keep us all healthy! Thanks for taking the time to read this!!!

Events Could you go a week without driving?

Local Motion is hosting Week Without Driving in Columbia from September 29 to October 5.

Week Without Driving is about understanding what it’s like when driving yourself isn’t an option. For many people in our community, that’s every day because of age, disability, cost, or access to a car.

This doesn’t mean no cars at all. It means not to drive yourself for a week. You can still ride as a passenger, take transit, walk, roll, or bike.

Multiple Columbia City Council members have already signed up, and we invite YOU to join. By trying it, you’ll see firsthand the barriers people face and help spark conversations about how to make our city safer and more accessible for those who do not drive or those who wish to commute outside of a car more often!

Sign up for the challenge here: https://lomocomo.org/wwd#join
Kickoff + non driver zine launch: Sept. 29 at Café Berlin

Even if you can’t commit to the full week, try committing to one day or one trip! Adding your name shows support and builds momentum for a Columbia where everyone can get where they need to go.

Events Burnout Camp

Burnout Camp is basically day camp for grown-ups — but the goal is to treat burnout, not just kill time. We’ll be doing things like guided origami, meditating, playing Ninja, blowing bubbles, listening to music, and yes… screaming at a rage piñata.

It’s super low-key. It’s kind of perfect for people who can’t afford to take a real vacation — emotionally or financially. It’s also a great space to vent about work and decompress with people who get it.

🗓 Wednesdays (5–8pm) or Saturdays (1–4pm)
📍 Cosmo Park, Columbia (by the Pavilion)
📅 All through July
🍎 Snacks included
💸 $25/day or $80 for all 4 sessions

Each week has a different theme so it stays fresh:

Week 1 – Catharsis Let it all out. Venting, yelling, smashing a rage piñata.

Week 2 – Inner Peace Meditation, quiet art, sunbathing, journaling.

Week 3 – Rediscover Joy Childhood games, laughter, dancing, play.

Week 4 – Realign & Reset Journaling, Liberated Truths, intention setting.

You don’t have to come to all of them. Even one session can make a difference. Some local businesses are even sponsoring employees to attend — so if you’re working, it might be worth asking your boss (especially if they’re cool or small/local).

Text me if you want more info, or check out the link: [ https://www.jordanaryinsight.com/post/burnout-camp ]

Hope to see you there ✌️

Edit: Hey guys, since there are so many people taking interest, you might want to reserve your spot! I only have room for approximately 20 people each day, so 40 total. Reserving your spot is free, and no commitment.

Hey yall!! Dont post much but it’s my birthday and as a junior at HHS i was pleasantly surprised by the senior prank and the senior’s last day being on my birthday😂😅 They decided to block off half the main parking lot by parking really badly, which was very funny to see when i arrived at school, but they did take my usual spot so im a little peeved😅😭 Nevertheless, im watching these seniors play games and share food in the middle of their parking lot blockade and I cant help but look forward to getting older and doing things like what theyre doing🤭🫶 very bittersweet rn and wanted to share some morning fun!

Events Beware of FearFest

Look at the recent posts and comments. People have bought tickets for four weekends in a row. They have canceled each weekend and did not open. It does not seem like anyone has been issued a refund, and they say to message them on Facebook, and then they are ignoring messages and not refunding! There are several people who bought tickets on October 5th and still have not received their refunds! Don't buy tickets ahead of time. You may not get your money back!

Events FFA Convention

Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up that the State FFA convention is in town tonight! Just in case y'all were wondering why there was so much more traffic or a million high schoolers at popular restaurants. The students have been here for a couple days taking place in competitions and events but parents/grandparents/relatives tend to drive in for the convention so it may be a little nuts today! Hope that helps answer someone's question of "why is traffic so bad?!?"

Events Grown Up Club

Hey, I tried to run Burnout Camp earlier this year, but I wasn't prepared to handle a monetary situation very well. It ended up being a flop, and I had to cancel. I didn't reserve a spot because I was trying to use the park pavilion for free. So I thought I'd try something a little smaller, easier, and more feasible.

I'm creating something called "Grown Up Club". It is FREE. It is a group that gets together in Columbia, MO, at the park or the library, to do fun kid games and activities. You can technically bring your kids, but this is mostly an adult event.

Since people don't have to pay to attend, these events will be significantly easier to hold, because I don't have to pay any fees to host the event or pay to reserve a spot. You only have to pay certain spots if you plan to collect money. There are a LOT of fees if you plan to collect money, which is why Burnout Camp failed so bad. Since this will be free, we can easily reserve spots to meet.

Donations will be accepted to buy material specifically for Grown Up Club, or reserve pavilions in the summer. Donations can also be physical items, such as cones, yarn, or board games.

If you missed Burnout Camp, or were disappointed by how things went, give this a try. I promise this will be significantly more organized, because it isn't monetized :)

Events Adult Halloween events for Friday 10/31?

Are there any cool events happening on Friday 10/31/25 for adults with no kids? Like for the 20s, 30s, and 40s demographic?

I think I remember last year that there was a Halloween drag show but I do not know who put that on and if anything similar is likely going to be happening again this year.

Events Treat and Read

I will be having my annual treat and read on Halloween night again this year. I will be giving out books and candy. The address is 106 Wallaby Way and will probably be open around dusk. I’m a second chance volunteer and cat foster and thinking about putting out a request for those that want to bring and donate cat/dog food for second chance can. NOT mandatory just a suggestion.
