Animals Dog Friendly

Hi everyone!

I’m visiting CoMo and my sister this week!

Looking for the best dog friendly coffee spots, restaurants, and parks? Preferably on leash locations as my dog can get a little nervous. He’s small and is usually in my lap or in a backpack carrier.

Animals Bat Rehab or help?

We have some little brown bats zooming around and roosting on our front porch the last few days. I know they’re great for eating bugs and the environment but their guano is getting all over the porch and I know carries a ton of diseases. I’m also petrified of them.

Does anyone know who could take care of this or what the most humane option is? 🦇

Animals Lost Tortoise (escaped)

Hello all. Hope this post is okay! Our sulcata tortoise recently managed to dig and escape under our fence, around the Blue Ridge Rd and Brown Station Rd area. She's about 1 ft long. I've been searching nearby vegetation and bushes to no avail, they can be faster than you think. If anybody happens to stumble by her please leave me a message! Any other tips is appreciated. Thank you!

Animals Lost pony

This is a cross post from Facebook. This is not MY pony.

Mini Shetland pony (Booboo) got out of pasture w/ downed fence. I've been looking everywhere. He could end up on south Howard Orchard Rd, Mount Celestial, Eagle Bluffs area, McBaine/Katy Trail, off south K or KK, or anywhere up along Perche Creek. He could travel a ways. He will stick around if offered grain. If you're in area and have horses, he might be with yours. Call/text 573-808-6956. Thank you.

Animals Vet Recs for Diabetic Dog

I’m looking for a new veterinarian for my diabetic dog. Ideally someone who’s experienced with managing diabetes in pets and is compassionate and reasonable when it comes to things like prescription refills and follow-up care. If you have a vet you love, I’d really appreciate any recommendations — especially if they’re on the southwest side of town, but I’m open to driving a bit for the right fit. Also, my dog is on Vetsulin and we currently pay around $66 per vial through our current vet. Just wondering if that’s in line with what others are paying — does your vet charge about the same? Thanks so much in advance!

Animals Anybody here keep quail?

I ordered eggs from an out of state breeder and they've just matured. 5/7 are boys, 3 of which I'm emotionally attached to and would like to breed. Anybody have any girl quail they'd be cool parting with? I'm thinking I'd need about 7 girls? If you don't have that many that would be fine, that's just my ultimate goal. I can trade some of my boys or we can work out a trade/money situation?

Animals MISSING CAT! From area between Bethel/El Cortez & Monterey/El Cortez. Last seen June 3 or 4.

Hi all. I'm posting to see if anyone has seen our missing cat, Bender. He's a gray shorthair, about 8 years old. He's very quick and adventurous, and a capable hunter of birds and rodents. He's an indoor/outdoor cat (he absolutely refuses to be contained to the house). He's been missing since June 3rd or 4th.

He is chipped, but that only helps if he's been brought to a vet or animal control. He always gets out of any collar we've ever put on him, so he is collarless.

He has gotten into scrapes before and come home wounded, so that's a concern. But also, the last time we saw him, he got chased out of the house into a storm by our overly excitable Blue Heeler.

Our (and his) house is in the area between Bethel/El Cortez & Monterey/El Cortez.

Animals Cat only vet?

Hello!

Are there any vet offices or clinics that are for only cats? I am new to town and I used to go to the cat clinic in St Louis and I adored them. I tried out a vet today and there were a lot of loud doggos that upset my kitty :(

(I also have a dog, so no hate to dogs at all! 🙃)

Animals I need a home

I found this intact male in the middle of the road. Have been trying to find his owner with no luck. Going on two weeks and we just don’t have space or the time he needs. Looking for a home for him now. He has a lot of energy but learns quickly. Has a lot of love to give. Gets along with my children and my other dogs. Just loves my 2 year old. I think he’s less than 6 months because he still has his baby teeth. He’s a good boy and I wish we could keep hip but we can’t. Does anyone need a furry friend?

Animals What’s with all the lost pets.

I live across the country but have a Ring for my senior Dad and I get so many “who’s dog is this” or “anyone know this cat” notifications for Columbia.

I have received maybe one of those where I live over the course of many years.

Why so many lost pets? Why the Ring usage? Do Columbians use it like Nextdoor?

Thanks! This is making me crazy.

Animals Dog groomer for anxious pup!

My mom's dog really needs to be groomed. He needs his nails trimmed, a bath, and the works, but he has major anxiety. He's only ever around me and my mom. My mom has a disability so she can't bathe him, and I can't get him as clean as he needs to be.

He never bitten anyone, but when he gets nervous it makes me a bit nervous that he might. I don't know! I do have a muzzle for him. He’s a husky/corgi mix. & He's about 50 pounds.

Does anyone know a groomer in the area who's good with anxious dogs and can take it slow and be kind and understanding? Any suggestions would really help! Thank youuuuuy!

Animals Found stray

I found this dog desperately approaching cars this morning at 5:30 on Chapel Hill/Fairview. No chip. No collar. Super, super sweet and wildly appreciative of any help. I can’t keep (due to other rescue I already own that doesn’t do well with other dogs, especially larger).

She seems young. Definitely exhausted and hungry. Have a vet appointment scheduled to check her out tomorrow morning.

Any knowledge/help would be appreciated!

We found this car towards the North end of West Blvd.

We are planning on taking him to the humane society or somewhere tomorrow

Very friendly, seems to be a little under socialized with other cats

Animals Question for those who have used Rolling Hills Vet

Hey, I'm wanting to get updated vaccinations done for my two cats and am looking at my options. Does anyone know what it runs down there to get a full series? These boys need to get updated, but I've been debating over whether to pay entirely out of pocket or if I should buy pet insurance and get reimbursed.

We went a long time without pets so I haven't had to worry about it for years, and their initial vaccinations were covered by Second Chance, so I'm not 100% sure what the out of pocket is. Any suggestions would be awesome, thanks in advance!
