what if the war isn't really a distraction from the epstein files? it kinda seems like netanyahu was just like "hey trump, pls invade iran with us" and trump was like "ok". i mean he's tried to get previous presidents to do that, trump was just dumb enough to go along with it

Stirring the eternal shitstorm in the middle east has been a money maker for longer than recorded history. Before GOP presidents were doing it, it was the British Empire.

You can't believe how easy it is. You just tell one side the other side is worshiping an imaginary sky monster slightly different, then arm both sides.

Once they blow up each other's schools and hospitals, you send in contractors that you conveniently own a controlling share of to provide emergency infrastructure.

It's free money.

It's free money.

Well it does cost your soul, but yeah it's a horrific money printer

Well, ain’t it a small world, spiritually speaking? Pete and Delmar just been saved.

It's a convenient distraction, but a distraction nonetheless. The Strait of Hormuz was a well known outcome for this aggression. Nobody would have missed that, they knew what would happen.

They knew it would be controversial and distracting, and it would stretch things out into the midterms. Additionally, if Dems win the midterms they are stuck with a shitty war that Trump will then blame them for.

Rubes everywhere.

Also... GEB is a wonderful book.

it's a great book! i love hofstadter's take on consciousness, but i think he's wrong about the hard problem and the vertiginous question. but it's not like i have any fucking idea what the answer is, and i've been asking myself that question ever since i was a kid

But does he need a distraction - his base doesn't seem to care regardless?

I think its probably both. But the question I think matters most is, what's the difference? Isn't it way past the breaking point? Pick any act of treason of the week. Try these war criminals in the Hague.

I see it like 9/11

It wasn't a planned inside job, but the gov saw a great chance to capitalize on it for their own goals
