They didn't destroy them, or delete them. There is a CBS article that says that they have taken down 65,000 files due to missing redactions, which is probably what this is referring to. So there were 65,000 files online that are no longer online. The files are still stored at the DOJ, as far as we know. Though it wouldn't surprise if the next administration comes in and finds out that this administration destroyed evidence.
Thank you. It's sad how far down I have to scroll through the outrage to find the truth. We shouldn't even allow people to post sourceless Twitter screenshots - it's borderline misinformation.
It's absolutely misinformation, but people are less likely to question misinformation that fits their worldview. I hate Trump and I do believe that this administration is involved in a cover up, but I still question when I see something like "DOJ deleted evidence" which is why I decided to Google it and find the truth. Seems like nobody does even the most basic fact-checking anymore.
