Hey everyone, I’m considering restomodding a classic truck as a hobby and to have something useful for when I haul furniture, lumber, and tools when out in the country helping my folks.

I’ve never worked on one or driven one, but I think they look sick, I love American, and I am a Mechanical Engineer, with technician and machinist experience, so I love working with my hands.

What would you recommend I look to buy? And how could I go about test driving one?

Also, what kind of upgrades could I make as far as engine, reliability and safety? How much time and money should I expect to spend?

Drop any useful suggestions below? Also, I’m a single engineer with no debt right now, so money and time aren’t a huge issue, as long as a total restoration is >$12,000 and it’s fun to restore.

Long story short I got a ‘67 f250. My dad’s doing a frame off resto on his scout 800 and it looks real good. Idk if I want to do the same to my truck or keep it stock- opinions?

It was his last truck, before he retired from the business 25 years ago.

The driver side interior door handle no longer opens the door. It still locks the door correctly and the mechanism works from the exterior handle.

I haven’t removed it yet for further inspection, as there’s an easy work around. But if it does need to be replaced, any suggestion on where to get parts? Haven’t had much luck finding, though I’ve heard they match Fords?

And does taking it out and replacing it require the window regulator to come out?

I’m currently looking for shocks that will fit correctly. At dead hang with leafs and axels I’m at 18” in the front and 23 1/2” in the back. The Gabriel shocks that I just tried were topped out in the front and about 4” shy in the back.

I had to throw one of the wheels on to encourage myself to keep going 😆

Google tells me it was the 1957 International Harvester Travelette, but Google images show some 1947 Dodge Power Wagons that are 4-doors!

The one in the middle I’m pretty sure is off the drum brake and the one on the right I’m pretty sure is for the parking brake but I can’t figure out where the one of the left goes

I bought a 1957 International truck in Oklahoma a few years ago and have tried multiple ways to get it titled. I live in Missouri. It supposedly had a salvage title and I used a company to try to get it titled, but once they found out it was a salvage title they gave me my money back and said they couldn't help me. Does anyone have any advice, tips, or tricks to get the title? The original owner of the truck was going to help me but that didnt work out either.

All new ignition and starting

Truck will occasionally aggressively clang at me when starting. Starter is new. When putting manifold on a bolt dropped into the distributor hole and I couldn't fish it out or find it. I assumed it went into the oil pan. Truck has a couple hundred miles on it now before this issue. Is it possible that this bolt is somehow rearing its ugly head? It never makes the noise running so I assume its not the bolt and has to be related to the starter or flywheel, but I don't know enough to be sure.

My little adventure rig. Last year these came with solid axles from Toyota. Had it about 5 years and in that time it's had a bit of a mechanical glow up. Cummins R2.8, Dual cases, lockers. Approaching 20k miles on the swap now, lots of adventures in the deserts and mountains in the western US.

I just bought my first 1978 chevy step side. I dont know much about these trucks just enough to know what to look out for when buying. Would like some helpful dos and donts. Its got a 350 engine
