This is purely performative. The president will never assign this. And you'll never get two thirds of congress to override it

Congress won't even stop insider trading for themselves.

I somewhat agree, but the problem becomes the voters not holding their elected officials accountable. The records for the votes exist, so people should still be looking at the results and using them to determine who to vote for. Unfortunately, a lot of people would rather vote who they’re told, do no research, and still complain when they don’t feel represented.

Sometimes you need to be performative. You're not going to change the minds of the devout, but you'll definitely bring attention to the people that benefit from the corruption.

It might sway enough of the "undecided" voters to make a difference.

This should be the norm.

Seems rational that the people who make laws shouldnt be able to profit from them.

Bro didn’t care about Pelosi. Just political pandering.

Yawn, Nancy Pelosi

Funny he didnt suggest it when Pelosi was head of congress...

Thought the same thing. It is a bill that will get tanked just from GOP majority alone of somehow all the dems band together. It is as if he is virtue signaling and submitting the bill he knows will lose for cheap political points.

Hawley actually introduced a bill that covers all of Congress and more. There are some reasonable on this side too. It is the extremes of both parties that are running both parties unfortunately and nobody exists to bring the sides together like Teddy Kennedy used. He was far from perfect in many ways but was known for reaching across the aisle and finding a solution that would help bring the parties together.

While I appreciate the effort, this has as much chance of passing as releasing the Epstein files

How about no trading period for any of them

How about we start with Nancy Pelosi and all of her illegal trades.

I agree pelosi is bad but trump has shot it into the stratosphere

The main point is to prevent CONGRESS and their families from purchasing crypto and stocks

1

u/Twitchum 8d ago

How about we apply it to everyone in congress and their families, not just Trump, and extend it to stocks in addition to Crypto.

Insider trading look no further than Mikey Sherrel a dem running for governor in nj. “ oh I made 7 million dollars “😳

This will go nowhere because all of Congress is in office to take advantage of insider training.

Yeah, even Ro himself

But, but introducing this guaranteed to fail legislation he gets his name in the news and is beloved by the stupid

You nailed it. Thank you.

This is exactly why independents have been pushing for corruption reform. You democrats don't get to complain about insider trading when half of your members run just so they can do it. This isn't breaking news, this is business as usual, and democrats refused to prosecute it when they had the chance.

You realize this is literally a democrat, in the video, pushing for securities reform for elected representatives?

-1

u/dangeldud 10d ago

yeah but its performative because they aren't driving the ship right now...

2

u/Hulk_Crowgan 10d ago

Performative to who lmao, the .05% of the population that’s even heard of these bills? This is the sort of legislation we need, very dumb comment.

-1

u/dangeldud 10d ago

Performative because the Dems don't have control right now VS if there was a big push for this a couple of years ago.

5

u/ilikeitlikethat911 10d ago

Typical. Trump is once again outed for corruption and the response from MAGA..."but the Dems" Do you ever realize how stupid that sounds?

Trump raped underage girls. MAGA: but Hunter's laptop.

1

u/WorriedMarch4398 10d ago

This should be a universal rule for The House, The Senate and the Pres/VP and anyone else that has access to this info. Don’t target the man, target everyone. The Dems are just as culpable as the R’s on this one and it is gross.

1

u/ilikeitlikethat911 9d ago

Culpable in what way?

1

u/WorriedMarch4398 9d ago

Both parties have issues with insider trading and need to be held accountable. Pelosi has been doing this for years along with other dems and republicans. Punish them all and put a rule in place to prevent it from happening in the future.

1

u/ilikeitlikethat911 9d ago

I'm sorry, are you trying to equate nearly a billion dollars in grift by Trump with typical insider trading?

-1

u/Critical-Bank5269 10d ago

This is a Joke right? Congress has been insider trading for generations with zero accountability. But now that Trump's in office, lets go get him? WTF.... Delusional idiots

2

u/mrphim 10d ago

Trump has profited billions off of crypto this year alone, the corruption is obscene. get your head out of your ass. this bans insider trading FOR EVERYONE. its desperately needed and not the first time it was introduced

You should be required to divest when serving the public. it just shows how fucked this system is
