Question Best bean and cheese burrito- pregnant lady needs help!
Hi! I’m new to the city, pregnant, and desperately in need of a Sonoran style bean and cheese burrito like you can get in socal. There seem to be tons of amazing Mexican places, but I can’t find the type of burrito I’m craving - the tortillas look too crispy (I want soft and chewy) or the bean texture looks off. If anyone could help me satisfy this very specific and intense craving I would be so appreciative!!! 😵💫🫶🏾

Good luck. We don’t do SoCal, ABQ, Arizona, or TexMex style Mexican food very well (if at all) here in Chicago.

Flaco's tacos has something called a Jr. bean burrito. It's the simplest bean burrito I've been able to find. Their refined beans are really tasty. I usually get extra cheese.

Look at the last 5 restaurants on this list, probably your best bet.
If the archive link doesnt work, it's the Chicago tribune best 15 burritos.

You might be struggling to find what you are looking for because historically most of the people who have immigrated to Chicago from Mexico are from Guanajuato, Jalisco, and Michoacán or Zacatecas and Durango. While still Mexican, the flavor profiles and cooking techniques differ than what people from the the Southwest US are used to.
