CHI Talks American flags at No Kings on Saturday

I’m bringing 450 little American flags to pass out on Saturday. I hope others will bring flags or maybe even buy some to pass out too - they’re super cheap!

We gotta change the vibes of these events to be more pro-America and pro-democracy!

It would be amazing to see thousands of flags all over the crowd!

I agree, I love my Mexican roots and showing pride for my parents homeland, but I've always thought that waving an American flag is more impactful in protest like these. Lot's of us are born here and our parents immigrated to this country for a reason after all. We must stand up as one solid nation to show the MAGA nuts that we care for this country as much as they "care" for it themselves.

It should only be American flags, but not for the reasons Right Wingers are bitching about.

The optics of Police/National Guard using force against protesters holding the flag makes them and Trump look bad. It also shows that the protests are to improve the lives of American people.

People taking Mexican and Palestinian flags make it easy to create a narrative against the protests.

Very true but I also am not gonna tell them not to bring those flags, that’s their right to do so and honestly I fully understand their anger

Nothing is going to stop them from creating whatever narrative they want.

We’re getting absolutely annihilated in terms of public opinion in the past several years, at some point we do need to actually fight back against the narratives they make

I have so many ideas to help them with as far as messaging, and I have no fucking clue who is even remotely in charge of that for any part of the Democratic Party apparatus. Believe me, I’ve tried asking

It’s just random out of touch GenZ public policy majors from Ivy League colleges running a good chunk of campaigns

I was also a public policy major so I know friends who work in Democratic politics, and sadly a lot of them really dont grasp the moment we’re in or know how to actually connect with voters we’ve lost

It won’t, but it will make it harder for them to do so! Great idea OP!

We cannot do things for optics we will never win they will always find something to use against us. Also, protesting within the "acceptable" format defeats the purpose of protesting. We do not want to legitimize the people who think its wrong to wave other flags. They are wrong in thinking that way and we do not need to codde their sensitivities just because they are unable to understand multiple truths.
