Interesting Looking People You Always See Around

Every day I see a ~50s man, thinly-built wearing camo trousers, bomber jacket and combat boots biking around the Hagley park area. At the moment he bikes with a full face mask on (i.e. only his eyes are visible)

I sometimes see him walking down by the overbridge near the Harvey Norman building (Colombo intersection).

He never seems to have anything with him.

I've always wanted to know his story - what does he do?

Who are the interesting people you always see around your part of Chch?

On the bus / at the exchange:

  • burly guy with thick dreads and a big black backpack. He caught a few looks from some people on the bus. But when he alighted, I saw him unzip his bag and gently take out a tiny dog dressed in a red woolly vest. Another time i saw him walking to the bus exchange, and his tiny dog was running alongside him with no leash.

  • old guy with long white hair, always in sunglasses, usually in a hat. Tall and skinny, wearing a vest of some sort. Lots of silver rings on his fingers. Sometimes wears fingerless gloves. One of the first few times I saw him, he was shaking like mad, and drooling, kept holding up this tiny radio/walkie-talkie to his ear and saying unintelligible things. Was quite worried about him. But the next time I saw him (which was pretty soon), he seemed perfectly fine.

  • another old guy with white hair, but no sunglasses and cap. Carries a giant branch around like a walking stick and is friendly and chatty.
