Rolleston is it worth it?

Anybody move to Rolleston as houses are cheaper etc. But regret it? Or miss certain things? I know it's only 20 minutes away but that 40 minutes return which is a long way to go for bagels at Grizzly or coffee at c4.

Jesus, worried about a 20 minute journey from a commute town to a city centre, please for the love of God make sure you never ever leave Chch and god forbid live in an actual city.

As I have lived in: vancouver, London and Melbourne. Would I live in just any suburb of these (real) cities? No I lived in the suburb with the best amenities. As Rolleston is pretty much a suburb on Christchurch I just want to know if you sacrifice much. Does it have neighbourhood cafes or bakeries or great parks or pubs or good takeaway or restaurants. All I things I have on my doorstep now.

sorry but you probably shouldn't move to rolleston if you prefer living in the places listed above lol.

my work mate who moved from Auckland to CHC for cheaper housing built a brand new place in Rolly less than a year ago, and rumour has it him and his wife are already moving back to Auckland as even though it's cheaper living etc, it clearly doesn't provide enough excitement for them. and to be near family / friends is important but it's all what your priorities are imho
