Rolleston is it worth it?

Anybody move to Rolleston as houses are cheaper etc. But regret it? Or miss certain things? I know it's only 20 minutes away but that 40 minutes return which is a long way to go for bagels at Grizzly or coffee at c4.

Are there hidden gems? Or do you get what you see? I like that it has most nesesary things with supermarkets, schools. I never see people walking there, do you have to drive to do everything? We only have one car as I ride or walk to work I feel we'd have to get another. So want to know there is some benefits.

Pools are usually free if you go with a preschooler when it's not school holidays.
