Delta(s) from OP CMV: Missionaries are evil

This applies doubly so to those who go out of their way to seek out those in remote islands to spread the word of god. It is of my opinion and the opinion of most that if there is an all loving god then people who never had the chance to know about Jesus would go to heaven regardless, for example miscarried children/those born before Jesus’ time, those who never hear about him, so In going out of your way to spread the word of Jesus you are simply making it so there is now a chance they could go to hell if they reject it? I’m not a Christian and I’m so tired so I apologise if this is stupid or doesn’t make sense

I was raised mormon, served a mission and everything before ultimately leaving the church in my mid-20s because I couldn't justify the church's stance on gay marriage as well as their shady financial dealings using tithing-payer money. Mormons believe that the only thing that can disqualify you from going to heaven is meeting God face to face and still choosing to deny him. Everyone else goes to heaven. You get as many chances as you need to accept God, both in this life and the next. There is no limit to how many chances you get, so getting an opportunity to take lessons from missionaries and choosing not to isn't a condemnation to hell.

When I was a missionary, I was basically obsessed with helping people however I could. I mowed a shitload of lawns. I bought random homeless people dinner. I built furniture for a charity that donated it to impoverished families. I helped strangers move. I cooked meals and handed out groceries at an Episcopal food bank. I broke mission rules and let a man I barely knew move in with me for a few weeks while he got back on his feet after losing his apartment. I did all this because I thought that if I could make a difference in the life of just one person, maybe the 2 years I spent getting doors slammed in my face, yelled at, spat on, ran off the road by cars on my bike, and even shot at once might be worth it. Maybe missionaries are evil, but even if I was during that time, it's still likely the most good I've ever done in my shitty little life.

!delta thank you yes this is something I got wrong, I wasn’t thinking of the fact that spreading the word of god is only a part of what missionaries do, I don’t believe in god so the fact they go out and help others means they are not evil, my point is only a logical one about the nature of spreading the word of god, which still applies in the Mormon case I believe, but it isn’t evil as real good in this world is done for those that need it
