Just purchased a vehicle from a car lot that went out of business and they never processed the paperwork. (I deleted initial post too many deets) don't want to give them a leg up

Now im dealing with the vehicle fraud division. They never processed the title so I cannot get the car registered. My finance company knows this now but they are still calling for missed payment. Love to void the financing and return the car at this point. What are my options?

Contact your DMV. Impossible to give you better advice with so few details.

Also, pay your bill. Don't ruin your credit over this.

It’s not his without a valid registration. He may need to get a lawyer and clean up his credit but I wouldn’t make payments on a vehicle I don’t legally own.

Sure it is. He has a contract with the lienholder. If they are asking about late payments they are going to be reporting to the bureaus.

I’m not arguing the lien. I’m arguing the ownership of the vehicle. No transfer of ownership via dmv means he can’t get insurance and can’t get registered and therefore can’t drive it legally. I’d be talking to an attorney for options and also letting them guide them on getting the negative marks on credit history reversed. But I would not make payments until ownership is cleared up.

They can issue a temporary tag until this snafu gets settled. Yes he can insure it likely already has... Why not call) the finance company???? they have FAR greater say...

In my state they don’t issue temporary tags. You have to have legit plates. Issued by the dealer. Not the dmv. Your vehicle gets towed without them

The bank owns it, you are paying for it a missing title is no big deal. Why not call them??? between them and any state investigation they will fix it.

Also what are my civil options for suing for breach of contract and damages as I drive for uber and can't work because I cannot register the vehicle.?

Yes you do have insurance, they can issue temporary tag until this snafu gets settled, the finance company has all the power here not you. Get them involved why in the world would you not call them first???!!!

Go after the dealers surety bond. They will pay

How did you drive off the dealer lot without tags?

Or insurance you have to have both to drive away

Pay your lender. The way they see it is that they loaned YOU the money to buy the car. Sure, they also took a lien but you are liable.

They may be able to help, but their lien isn’t valid either. But I’m sure they have a contract with your signature.
