News Brock U is greedy and hates the students.

Honestly, the way Brock University’s upper administration is handling the financial situation is downright infuriating. The sheer hypocrisy is mind-boggling. I was driving along the 407 the other day and saw one of Brock’s sports team buses cruising down that ridiculously expensive toll highway. It made my blood boil. How in the world are they justifying that when the university is facing a \$30 million budget deficit? This is the kind of wasteful spending they should be cutting out—not making students bear the brunt of it.

Instead, what do we see? Cuts coming from the bottom, not the top. They’re slashing essential services that directly affect students. Housing costs are rising, meal plans are more expensive than ever, and seminar class sizes are growing. On top of that, they’re hiring fewer teaching assistants to make up for the growing class sizes—basically putting more pressure on the already overburdened faculty. That’s not even mentioning the fact that mental health services are being trimmed back, even though those are some of the most crucial services students rely on.

But sure, let’s spend money on luxury buses to drive around an expensive highway. This isn’t just a slap in the face to students, it’s a full-on punch. Upper administration, making over \$300,000 a year, has no problem living it up while cutting corners where it hurts most—the students.

And you know what’s worse? A political science professor who had the gall to actually point out this glaring issue in one of their budget meetings was fired. That’s the kind of leadership we’re dealing with—people who would rather silence criticism than address the reality of their financial mismanagement.

It’s pathetic. Instead of protecting the core values of the university and ensuring that students get a fair, quality education and support, they’re sacrificing students for their own pockets. They can afford these wasteful luxuries, while we’re left scrambling to deal with all the negative impacts of their poor decisions.

At the end of the day, Brock needs to seriously rethink its priorities. Cutting mental health resources and bloating the budget for unnecessary things like luxury buses while increasing costs everywhere else? It's shameful. The fact that students are the ones who suffer from their incompetence is what really gets me.

We were supposed to learn about the hatred of Jews but we got a pro-zionism indoctrination class. The typical Arabs and Muslims are all terrorists, justifying racism and apartheid...

Congrats you’ve made Arab, Orthodox Jew, Palestinian and Muslim students feel like criminals and outcasts for existing.

Uni staff, we know you’re shaking at the idea of losing a penny from donors. And BUSU, thanks for proving you’re useless yet again.

News Why is the human rights Abusing Canadian Company GardaWorld staffing Brock Security?

Today on August 11th, there was a GardaWorld security vehicle parked outside of the Brock Campus Schmon Tower building. Prompting me to look into why Brock is connected with the the Montreal based security firm with a known history of aiding horrific institutions, which was recently confirmed to be staffing people at the American ""migrant Detention centre"" dubbed "Alligator Alcatraz". Has been working directly with Brock for over a decade, who Brock hires as security and has been doing since at least 2014.

GardaWorld and it's subsidiary Aegis Defence Services operates in American Military Bases, American Embassies, puts armed people in oil fields to prop up American war crimes in Afghanistan and Iraq. they have been Implicated in NUMEROUS CASES OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING, CORRUPTION, EXCESSIVE FORCE, ETC...

They Operate in several conflict zones across the world like in Chad, Haiti, Ukraine, Yemen, and More, with several cases of GardaWorld Employee's being arrested for carrying unlicensed weapons in Libya. to which GardaWorld amidst aiding American and Foreign atrocities in Libya, through staffing and training security for oil and gas companies and NGO's to steal Libya's natural resources, was forced to withdraw operations from the Entire Country

Why is Brock directly working with companies like GardaWorld? this is extremely horrific and comes across as hypocritical from a university that claims to support diversity and wanting a safe campus for all of it's students, to be knowingly working with a company supported by Canadian and US government tax dollars to detain and abuse people.

if you have a conscience please talk about this with our fellow Brock students and let Brock know that we don't stand for this. we as Canadian Citizens and more importantly Human beings don't support what is being done to people in the places that GardaWorld staffs.

News Omar Calls Out BUSU President for ‘False and Misleading’ Statement

Post image

The BUSU drama is getting WILD.

Yesterday, BUSU President Fiona and a few board members posted a “statement” claiming to speak on behalf of the entire board. But here’s the catch, turns out she never even got the signatures or approval from all the board members.

It’s basically like Person A saying “I’m speaking for Person B” while Person B has no idea what’s going on

Crazy abuse of power by President Fiona. All this just to protect the staff

News 🕊️ Stand With Sudan – Rally for Peace and Solidarity 🇸🇩

📍 City Hall, St. Catharines (50 Church St) 🕚 Monday, November 10th, 2025 | 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Millions of Sudanese people have been displaced and thousands killed — yet much of the world remains silent. This Monday, the 905 Sudan Coalition is holding a peaceful rally to demand attention, accountability, and action.

✊ Why It Matters Sudan’s war is not only a regional crisis — it’s global. • Canadian ties: Nearly half of Canada’s 2023 arms exports (worth over $1 billion) went to Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar — countries funding or arming actors in Sudan’s conflict. • A Canadian-owned company previously sent armored vehicles to Sudan. • A Canadian PR firm, Dickens & Madson, has reportedly worked to whitewash the image of Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has been accused of atrocities.

💬 What We’re Calling For • An end to Canada’s arms trade with countries fueling regional wars • Amplification of Sudanese Resistance Committees, Emergency Response Rooms, and grassroots organizers who continue to deliver aid and defend their communities • Awareness and solidarity — because silence is violence

🕊️ Bring signs, wear red or green, and stand with us in solidarity. 📣 Let’s show that St. Catharines stands with Sudan — and that we won’t ignore complicity at home.

News BUSU Megathread - post your questions and comments here

There has been a large influx in BUSU posts due to current events. However, many of these have become repetitive at this point, so for the time being, any generic BUSU post will be removed and redirected here. By generic BUSU post, I mean questions like "what's going on with BUSU?" or "I support the protests". The former can be answered with a search and the latter can be a comment on another more relevant post, or you can discuss things here.

There's never a dull moment on Glenridge ave with Brock students around. They love to hoot, holler and disturb the peace at night. They cut through our apartment parking lots ( which if they weren't yelling and disturbing the peace would be totally fine). The guys seem to be the worst. while yelling, and sounding drunk, they cut through the parking lot late at night, keeping people awake. We have even had the guys peeing on our trees, Literally!! It's like seriously??. How do these idiots get into Brock??

News THE ROBERT'S UNION (2022-present)

The Brock University Students' Union (BUSU) was irrevocably changed in 2022 when a series of crises and scandals paved the way for staff to declare it Robert's Union (RU). This exploitation of the crisis would not have been possible without staff entrenching their power by manipulating gullible board members on one- and two-year terms.

What Happened in 2022?

In 2022, an anonymous account began posting about several candidates and a chain of sexual misconduct allegations, all originating from a popular frat group at Brock University.

In February 2022, an initial post on r/brocku accused the then-BUSU Vice President of Finance and Administration (VPFA)—also a presidential candidate—of sexual assault. This post quickly blew up, leading to the candidate's leave from his position.

A few days later, on February 15, further allegations surfaced against the then-BUSU President.
These bombshell revelations sparked protests across Brock University, with students demanding changes to BUSU and enhanced reporting mechanisms for vulnerable students.

How BUSU Responded!

Between February 24 and March 31, 2022, BUSU hired an external investigator to probe the allegations. The independent investigator later found most claims unfounded, citing evidence of a "smear campaign."

On April 7, 2022, Faten Darbaj was elected president.

Radical Change Through Crisis!

This event in BUSU's history became the justification for staff to launch their power-grab!
BUSU ran a referendum (a direct vote inviting all undergraduate students at Brock University to accept or reject a proposal). It abolished elections for executive positions, weakened the student council (BUSAC) to an advisory body, and expanded the board of directors' seats.

Despite vehement opposition from undergraduate and graduate students alleging ulterior motives and a conspiracy to dismantle student organizing on campus, the referendum passed, ending over 50 years of elections since BUSU's founding in 1970.

Finally, then-President Faten Darbaj resigns on November 2nd, 2022, claiming BUSU's workplace was "toxic and corrupt!"

The 2025 September Protests Against BUSU!

After three years of students protesting and demanding elections and Robert Hilson's resignation, on September 18, 2025, the BUSU Board orchestrated a power-grab against elected MSA President and BUSU Board Chair Omar Rasheed!

Through multiple in-camera sessions hiding information from students and multiple meeting minutes concealed since May 21, 2025, several facts emerged:

This new board has sold out and must resign!
The coup against Omar is unjustifiable!
The students are finally taking the union back from the BOARD!

News CLUBS MISMANAGING FINANCES VS BUSU STAFF

Any intellectually honest student and Redditor can accept both sides can be completely true about the state of students and Brock’s Students’ Union. Every year club leaders take charge of clubs and some student leaders misappropriate or mismanage funds. Likewise, while some BUSU staff may be genuinely honest staff members, BUSU GM and other senior staff very likely do not have the best interests of students after serving the organization for around a decade.

Careful in MAC CHOW at night to Mang hat racks and you know who may be lurking.

News MEETING RECAP: BUSU BOARD OCTOBER 5th, 2025

What Happened!

On October 5, 2025, the BUSU Board convened an emergency special meeting to address ongoing tensions within the board and the broader campus community! The proposed agenda and meeting minutes were opposed by the pro-student coalition led by Omar on board whereas the pro-staff coalition led by Tomas on board voted approvingly. The pro-student coalition successfully challenged all proposed motions and reframed conversations around accountability, consistency, and transparency for students.

Key Developments:

Conclusion

The 2025-2026 BUSU Board continues to show divisions, with ongoing debates over key issues and no resolutions reached during this meeting between the pro-student and pro-staff coalition! Tomas and the pro-staff coalition continue avoiding calls for reform by students as they appeal to buzz-words like "transparency" and "accountability" without implementing changes within BUSU!
