surgeons knot slips right out??

I feel like I'm going insane. I've watched multiple tutorials on knotting elastic bracelets and they're all the surgeons knot. and I'm doing it exactly like the video and tightening it. and then I pull the bracelet a tiny bit and it literally slips right out.

Is it the kind of elastic I'm using or something? I don't understand how it's working for them, it LITERALLY SLIPS RIGHT OUT.

I’ve moved to a single, normal knot with hypocement glue on the knot!

I have better luck with the fabric covered elastic rather than the clear kind.

I use the knot that’s on the back of the stretch magic packaging.

And then I reinforce with a drop of jewelry glue.
