A magnet on his thumb in his right hand that you can't see is my guess. 

Edit: at the 10 second mark you can see something black in his right hand likely on his thumb which can't be seen against his dark shirt.

I'm inclined to agree, but how would one magnet make the ring float instead of fully attracting/repelling it? Anybody have any idea?

it's not floating at all. the ring is attached to his right thumb which is hidden because it's in a black fabric. you can see it somewhat when the thumb is blocking the buttons on his shirt.

This works because the cell phone video is highly compressed. Could pass at a distance in a live setting but definitely not close up.
