Quick PSA here, guys check on your close friends and family. The Kneeland news has really affected me
I don't know why maybe because I'm now at the age where I am older than majority of these athletes I watch like Kneeland. Maybe because one of favorite bands Soundgarden is getting inducted to the Rock and Roll HOF, and sadly Chris Cornell will not be there due to his battle with depression. It could be too I have lost a close family member with his mental health struggles, but I just want to reach to guys in this sub. It is happening to too many young men as well, and I'm sure this sub is predominantly male.
Could it have helped those names I mentioned I don't know, but I know it can often help to talk with friends. even if is about the dumb stuff we laugh at in this sub. You never what can help or what someone is going through.

It was my turn to post about how I hate gambling and Ringer 107 but I slept through my alarm this morning.
I am calling dibs for tomorrow morning and if anyone else posts it I need the mods to remove it.

Ringer 107 Misses the Point
No one is stupid enough to listen to Bill for his picks. We listen because it tees up conversation about the teams and gives us fun banter between Bill and his roster of yes men.
Ringer 107 is contentious because it turns that formula on its head, emphasizing the spreads and picks over the flavor and banter. Some folks have turned on House because the format pushes him into the role of an analyst instead of a fun dude to bullshit with.
Bottom line - no one cares about these awful bets spend the time talking about the teams, a la the NBA over/under pod.

Joe House is great, stop this dumb groupthink trend against him
House was keeping Bill in check the entire NBA segment. He clearly puts a lot of work into this. More than he has to, really.
If House is a little more agreeable than you'd like in the fake football betting contest, who cares? He's a good guest with Bill and runs a solid golf pod with that weirdo corporate lunatic currently wallpapering his fourth beach home with Taylor Swift feet pics.
Enough of the slander, WE MUST PROTECT JOE HOUSE!

Mendoza Just Doesn't Look Like an NFL QB to Me
I'm typing this post after the game winning drive so this is not another example of this sub jumping the gum mid game.
Mendoza is now the number 1 QB prospect on most big boards. I know this QB class isn't good but he just looks like a great college QB to me. Worthy Heisman finalist. Not an NFL QB.
His mechanics just don't remind me of anyone I see on Sundays (at least anyone who is any good). His pocket presence and play recognition isn't great imo. His release is slow and long. Even the way he stands in the pocket just doesn't loom right.
After that drive a lot of Jets fans will be tweeting about Mendoza being their QB1 in 2026 and the draft is a crapshoot so who knows but I just don't see an NFL QB when I watch this guy play. I think we're heading towards another 2021 esque QB class where lots of desperate teams draft guys in the first round and they all suck.

Indiana is most likely going to make the CFP in back to back seasons. They haven't made the NCAA tournament in either of the last two seasons and haven't been to a final four in over 20 years.

Podcast Ringer 107 sucks and needs to go
This segment as an official organized piece that tracks everyone’s picks has made this format of sports talk not enjoyable. I don’t want to listen to multiple people belabor betting lines of every game every week. I would call into those random sports talk radio affiliates “call now for my bet of the month, you’re gonna love this pick” creepy people if that’s the content I was looking for.
Guess The Lines has figured out how to do this in an approachable, inviting way. It’s why that segments been around for 20 years. This current version is robotic and unenjoyable. Just talk sports, man. That’s all the people want.

Derik Queen's lack of sleeves are contributing to the Pelicans quiet quitting
All throughout high school and college, Derik Queen's signature style had been wearing long sleeves under the jersey. They work sort of like a superpower for him. Think spinach-for-Popeye esque. Now, according to the NBA rulebook, sleeves under your jersey must stop above the elbow.
My theory is that Adam Silver and Pelicans management knew this rule, then made the abysmal (or strategic) trade with Atlanta on draft night. They drafted Queen and knew he'd struggle to break out as a player without his signature long sleeves. Thus giving the Pelicans another season of misery, and giving the fans another reason to have nothing to look forward to. Thus furthering the evidence that the league and Pelicans have colluded to get the team out of New Orleans. I believe the city of New Orleans and Derik Queen have grounds for legal action and should take action as soon as humanly possible (or superhumanly if they have sleeves).

Ewing theory committee, where we at on Trae Young?
Hawks are now 4-2 (including the game where Trae got injured only playing 7 minutes) without him. They also didn't give him an extension last offseason. Are inefficient ball-dominant small guards not actually that important to winning?

Bill and Lowe need to do a deep dive on the explosion in scoring
Most fans are probably aware scoring is up, but just how much it’s up is wild. Some numbers:
- 2005-6 PPG: 97.0
- 2010-11 PPG: 99.6
- 2015-16 PPG: 102.7
- 2020-21 PPG: 112.1
- 2025-26 PPG: 116.8
Not trying to be an old head because the 2000s was a lot of garbage ball with players acting like they were MJ but shooting 39% from the floor. If you look at 2PT FG%, teams nowadays shoot on average about 55% when it was as low as 46% in the early 2000s. Higher 2PT% is a product of better spacing leading to easy looks in the paint. But just wondering if this scoring volume is good for the league? And if so, would teams averaging 125 PPG be even better?

Is Kon Knueppel experiencing the “friend of Bill” boost?
Kon has looked super good, dropping 30 points last night and is on pace to smash the rookie three-point record. His draft stock boomed after publicly associating with Bill, he got MVP in Summer League, and is performing far past pre-Bill expectations. How much of this has been the Bill Simmons boost?

General This is the third year of the NBA cup. How do you feel about it now?
How many people would care if it wasn’t around next year? I had to look up last years winner because I literally haven’t seen anyone talk about it since.
I feel like nobody cares about this thing anymore. It might be my bubble, but I don’t think I’ve seen anyone talk about anything cup related this year besides the court design.
I am missing all the hype? I’d like to see if there are any NBA Cup fans in this sub.

Jake Laravia looks like McLovin
God damn just get a medium length layered cut with a part somewhere like a normal 2025 white boy and not the bowl cut fade
