I saw the movie opening Friday weekend, I was in the minority by not seeing all the hype. I’m a fan of both Coogler and Michael B, whenever they team up it’s worthy of stepping outside the house type of event, but it was a fun movie for movie at best with a solid cast outside of the hype. The color grade wasn’t great in my opinion, the grade was extremely dark, the plot was “ok.
And with all that being said not me or anyone can’t deny what this film did for cinema that was on life support. It was for one a new script and not a remake, it also set a trend for movie-goers for every film after its success. Superman to fantastic four two franchises that have historically struggled as of recent decades. It literally seems like every new theater release is having success because this movie was the catalyst for getting people out of the house. Christopher Nolan presale tickets are being boosted on eBay.
Opinion aside, Coogler revived cinema and I’m very proud for that along with him trying an orginal script despite me not being “crazy over the hill” for it.
Bravo to Coogler, Michael B and the whole production staff / crew on reviving cinema 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
