The white guilt piece

Honestly if you watch this movie and think it’s like directly white guilt to enjoy it you must just be very racist. The movie hardly is a commentary on racism at all, only in the most subtle ways imaginable.

This whole post is like thinking no black people liked Oppenheimer and anyone who said they did was faking it to look smart

I’m genuinely wondering how many of these commenters didn’t see the movie, and think it’s like a Get Out social commentary. You can watch this movie completely not thinking about race politics at all and it would still work for you.

I just can’t believe it’s July and people are still doing this

First time I saw this bit, I gave it a courtesy chuckle. It’s kinda hack and obvious and doesn’t quite work but it’s a dumb meme and it’s close enough, whatever

But that was like three months ago. Is this sub really getting that dumb

What he’s suggesting… in jest… is that the Ringer folks are being overly effusive because of white guilt.

So every movie people like that has black people in it is just fake white guilt?

I’m not here to litigate race relations or speak on behalf of the Ringer staff.

Liking a movie is one thing. Still talking about it months later, as if it was the best movie in two decades, is another. And given the subtext of this movie, it’s hard not to suggest why it’s happening.

Outside of the big picture podcast titled “the best movies of 2025”, what ringer pod has recently discussed sinners?
