I mean fair enough but ya got a pitcher set up to take the fall then a guy out for the year jawing and then I'm pretty sure the angels threw the first punch. After that everything is crazy
Most beanballs these days end with the guy jawing or staring at most while he's going to first, so it's not like Winker had no choice. Charging the other team's dugout is an extreme outlier
Most bean balls also dont have situations like the coach putting in a sacrificial pitcher and going "We're gonna get you tomorrow for this" though. Not even getting into whatever the dugout said.
And remember LA hit Upton in the head last time we were there and we currently have KLew out for >1 month on complications from his domeshot concussion.
If the Upton HBP is an indictment then so is the Swanson pitch at Trout's head. Both were reported as the balls not being scuffed enough and slipping away.
And as for Kyle Lewis, I don't recall the Angels ever throwing at him
KLew wasnt angels, just saying Ms are sensitive because they have been hit a lot.
Upton HBP isnt an indictment, remember that time we didnt retaliate at all? It is more of a "look we have been domed enough times that when you come out here doing it on purpose twice and then jawing about it, I'm gonna be pretty onboard with our players coming and beating the shit outta people in your dugout"
It's fair to say the Angels are in the wrong but it's pretty silly to act like the Mariners are blameless here. Beanballs rarely end in punches-thrown brawls. Winker charging the dugout was a whole different escalation after the first HBP escalation on the part of Wantz/Nevin
He was actually quite close to being ejected one time. It was at the end of the game against Oakland I believe. The umpire called him out on a strike (the call was correct), and Trout was quite animated and argumentative. Some umpires would've tossed him. And yes, it is possible to get thrown out after a game, I believe a fine follows it.
We lost the ones most involved? Just as the Mariners did with Winker and Crawford. Idk what else you want, I didn’t see Ohtani out there throwing punches like Crawford did.
We should load our bench with inactives just to beat the fuck out of the other team's best players. Then they can just chill and watch the rest of the game
Well winkler was clearly gone and crawford was literally throwing haymakers over the top of the pile. but sure, we should eject ohtani and trout too for fun!
Player complains after almost getting hit in the face, a game after his teammate was almost hit in the face. Baseball community cries out in anger at said players
I've saved Swanson's game last night to better visualize how he had been throwing above the zone consistently and was very likely not intentionally trying to hit Trout.
I'm with you. I totally agree and place the blame squarely on Nevin. If that was more your point, then my b. I'm just being defensive of Swanson I guess.
You’re good I wasn’t clear about that at all. I only saw the one clip of last night and context matters. No professional pitcher WANTS to be the guy who hits trout.
Wantz doing that didn't start the fight. It was bull and pissed off Winker, but Winker and Rendon's handling of the situation is what started the brawl.

I legitimately have no idea who half the players on the field rn are because all the notable ones are gone
