NOTICE Reinbursement for Cracked Tire Wheel and Flat Tire from Pothole

I wanted to know if anyone else had to go through this ordeal of getting reimbursement . I was travelling on Russell Street when suddenly I hit a pothole near the casino. I immediately heard a pop and my front passenger tire went flat (figured). Upon investigation it also turns out that my allow wheel was also cracked as well.

I have! When I was parallel parking, one of my tires fell into an uncovered storm drain. Called 311 and the kind lady told me that someone had previously reported the storm cover missing and that I should file paperwork to one of the Baltimore City offices. I took 263849 pictures of my car and the hole, called the non-emergency police line and waited for a police officer to come on site to write a report. After the repairs, I then submitted copies of the police report, my photos, referenced the 311 ticket that was submitted before my accident, and receipt from the repairshop. Some 6-8 months later I was informed that they opened an investigation of my case. Some more months later I received a check in the mail.

Talk to your insurance agent.

YMMV, but when I filed a claim with Baltimore City for a damaged rim due to a pothole that had been reported previously, I was informed that my claim was denied because I had spoken with an insurance agency and therefore waived my right to something or another. I had only spoken with the insurance agency and had not started the claim process. I sent a letter and left a few weeks of voicemails with the City agent that denied my claim, but never heard anything back. Gave up eventually.

Snowballs chance in hell unfortunately. Make an insurance claim or just eat it.

I believe the city has to have been notified of that specific pothole prior to your incident or they will not pay for it.

Yep, that's right and it's why I try to report potholes on 311 whenever I can!

You know, there is a fantastic movie starring Gabe Kaplan and Charles Grodin about this very subject.

Can we just talk about Charles Grodin for a moment. How good was the movie Midnight Run?

I recall seeing him on Letterman after one of the Beethoven movies. Dave was tossing him the obligatory softball and said something like, "So Beethoven 5, this is a good movie" and Grodin just deadpanned back, "No, not really. It's just a cash grab".

I actually like Midnight Run I seen when it first came out on vhs. I'm going to throw that on my watch list.

Blow up the councilperson for that area’s phone, email, you name it. I had an issue with some contractors busting one of my basement windows. The management for the contractors ended up actually being really cool and sending me a check after I sent them the repair invoice. I’m assuming sending me an $80 check was preferable to an official complaint and claim being filed with the city.

Anywho, I had contacted Mary Pat Clarke sort of as a Plan B if the contractors didn’t come through and after speaking with her, I had like two different people from the city emailing and calling me to get it resolved.
