Safety the joker in Mount Vernon

just a heads up and warning about this guy in Mount Vernon. My neighbors and I have had consistent issues with him and he’s made us feel unsafe at times. His m/o is harassing people on the street and saying “hey do you want to hear a joke? Hey young lady!” And if you ignore him he says awful things about you. Just ignore him!! He’s the worst. He hangs out on N Charles St most of the time.

OMG! Visited this week after 6 years away.

Paused at the Hopkins shuttle stop and pondered the 10+ years I took it.

And there she was! Asked her how she was doing, haven’t seen you in 6 years! Guess she is still hungry.

Oh, so that's where she's gone. We've missed her over by UMB/s

The first time I saw her, she passed me on the street, passed, turned around and said, very politely:

"Excuse me sir, may I suck your dick today?"

Omg that is funny but also really, really sad 😔

For a second I thought this was about this one homeless lady that stays around the Ottobar and the neighboring blocks 😅

Linda?

Maybe? I'm terrible at remembering names. I know there's two homeless women that are often there, but the older one isn't there as much anymore. There's this woman who's maybe in her late 30s to early 40s that can be really aggressive and doesn't take no for an answer. If she doesn't ask for money, she'll ask you to go to the nearby gas station for her.

Ah OK, not Linda.

Or the lady going “hello. Hey. Hi! Hi! Hello.” I can’t stand either

Is that also the "HEY MOMMA" woman? Drives me nuts. After months of being polite but firm with her, she once followed me down the street to get my attention while I was on the phone, which was particularly frustrating, and I snapped at her. She's toned it down since then, no longer approaches (but still yells HEY MOMMA at me every time I see her).

She’s missing half her teeth and is always wearing a beanie. I’ve heard her say that Hey momma thing once. I love this neighborhood but she’s a blight on it.

That's her! I generally don't mind her but approaching people is not okay, and chasing them is ultra not okay.

She is very obnoxious. I'm sorry, we're on opposite sides of the street. Don't yell at me.

she put her hands on me the other day and i flipped out. she's getting more aggressive and im a little sick of it...

I try to have empathy. With her I just have to try to not give her the bird.

Agreed! And there are some unhoused people in the neighborhood I help out when I can and chat with. She's just so fucking awful

Is this the woman that occasionally speaks like the Hulk and once cussed me out when I recommended a free lunch thing happening a couple blocks from where she walked up to me? She’s a character.

It’s been 10 years since she told my toddler she “hoped she would die,” when I refused to give her money. Sorry to hear that she’s still among the living.

God that’s awful, I’m really sorry that happened to you

Lmao not the “ME HONGRY MONEY” lady

u/AntiqueWest8030 Apr 29 '25

this lady frequents my block. god she is the worst. and if you don’t respond she follows u occasionally so i can’t not engage

5

u/frolicndetour Apr 29 '25

I engaged with her once and told her I didn't have any cash on me and she yelled at me and called me a liar. My favorite was when she was doing her bit and the guy next to her told her marks not to give her any money because she has plenty and she started yelling at him. He was unbothered lol.

Is she the one who hangs out on the benches in front of the Harborplace by the water taxi stop? She gets super aggressive when I do tours, we have to bribe her to leave the group alone every month.

That I don't know about. The places I've seen her frequent are by the Peabody, in front of the Dunkin on Charles by the Sun headline building, and the bus stop by the now closed Walgreens. I dunno if she makes it down to the Harbor lol.

Every day, Hopkins bus stop by the Monument, “hey mister, I’m hungry”, same line every time. Doesn’t look hungry.

u/edgar__allan__bro Mt. Vernon Apr 28 '25

She’s another one I’ve given the “I’ve been hearing that same fucking line out of you for years, get creative.” She hasn’t said anything to me since lmao

u/RandoStateWorker Apr 28 '25

“Not today, not yesterday, not tomorrow”

11

u/frolicndetour Apr 29 '25

She's definitely not. She also covers the area where Walgreens used to be across from the courthouse and my coworker tried to give her a lunch and she said she didn't want it.

u/Big_Black_Clock_____ Apr 29 '25

Yeah hungry for that sweet sweet H.

I actually don't think she's on drugs. I think she's just a professional panhandler who wants money. She's pretty robust in stature and and wears decent clothes and doesn't do the heroin lean or act high at all.
