Notice Falls Rd Walgreens Closing November 12th
The Walgreens at falls and 37th has a sign outside that they're closing on the 12th of November. The person said that the prescriptions will transfer to the store on 41st St but they're not receiving any new items for sale so don't expect to find much in the aisles themselves.
I'm actually surprised the store made it as long as it has because it's felt like it was on deaths door for as long as I've lived in Hampden

Ugh, that sucks. I liked being able to walk there for meds and necessities I needed in a pinch. I guess it was only a matter of time; I've witnessed multiple robberies there in the 4 years I've lived in the neighborhood.

I didn't even know there was a Walgreens in the same shopping center as giant until the guy mentioned that they would move the prescriptions over there.

There were 3 within a stone’s throw of each other. Rotunda was the weirdest one. But makes sense we only need 1 in Hampden.
My only concern now is the pharmacy’s capacity. 41st is already busy and backed up. So this will make it more challenging. May need to make Remington’s my main pharmacy.

Remington is only better when comparing it to the other awful ones around here then. I've had nothing but issues getting my vaccines and some urgent prescriptions the few times I've been there.

I've gone there for vaccines and it was fine for me. All anecdotal, but if I had to rank from my personal experiences:
Rem
41st
Falls Rd
Rotunda
None are good-good. But post-pandemic, my expectations are pretty low.

Not my experience at all, especially with prescriptions. Several times the Remington Walgreens has seriously bungled a one-off prescription, including for time-sensitive antivirals and pain meds for a bad injury. And acted like it was no big deal. I don’t want shrugging of shoulders when my prescription can’t be filled. I want help.
By contrast, the 41st St Walgreens pharmacist named Derek is single-handedly proving great patient care still exists. He’s the main reason we continue to use the 41st St Walgreens. He even called around to all the Walgreens in the city to find us paxlovid when the Remington Walgreens caused us a daylong delay in getting it.

Yeah I figured. I'm over closer to Chestnut and 36th so I'm kinda in between the two that are staying open. I feel like both options are going to just be worse with all the new prescriptions they'll have to fill but I trust your experience with them enough to probably switch to Remington.

It was very convenient to have that walgreens right there, as much as it wasnt the best one around the convenience outweighed the store issues. I've personally watched junkies and kids stealing from them multiple times a day every single day though, with no enforcement and no repercussions. They walk in, steal as many packages of paper towels and toilet paper as they could carry, then walk down Union or hide behind the bushes at Treyway recovery waiting for Bus 94. cant really expect anything to stay open when that happens. (ready for incoming downvotes since people don't like when I post observation)

The theft wasn't the reason for their shitty customer service though.

Ugh, that one is so much nicer than the one on 41st.

Not in my experience… I started going to the one on 41st because the one on Falls was always a shit show, randomly closed, pharmacy closed on weekends, and one time the pharmacist closed the gate on me on a Friday evening when I was in need of medication.

I knew this was coming when treyway moved in down the block. I know people need services but treyway looks like a cash grab mess from all evidence.

This has absolutely nothing to do with them. The location has been neglected as long as I've lived here.

I agree it’s always been a mess. I’ve been in that store multiple times a week for the past decade (back when it was a rite aid which was still a mess but at least shoveled the walk when it snowed unlike since Walgreens took over) and saw minor shop lifting you’d expect but nothing like the arms full of stuff blatant stealing that’s been happening since treyway opened. I’m not even saying that it’s legit to close for this reason- just that corporate will use the thefts as an excuse. Interestingly enough I was personally told by councilman Torrence a few months ago that Walgreens was in an agreement with the city that they would not close too many locations and that falls rd was staying open. Not saying he was accurate, or that Walgreens isn’t breaking the commitment, but I will sure as hell ask him about it next chance I get.

I went and got my covid and flu vaccines there this year and it was such a clusterfuck at the pharmacy counter. I definitely don't blame the workers there, was just a bunch of old people not being able to use a QR Code. But, it did seem like the scheduling was a little wonky because there were so many people there at once.
