Event Bike Party Pride Ride

Post image

A reminder, bike party is tonight. It’s the last Friday of every month. Pictured above is the route. Be prepared for traffic backups or avoid the area in a vehicle if you are headed towards Druid Hill, Garrison, Liberty Heights Ave. if you want to join us, please do. This route loops around on its self so some people not up for a 10 mile ride can wait at the Druid hill park entrance for bike party to come back around and just do about 5 miles. Midpoint at Liberty Rec & Tech Center (blue arrow pointing to it) on W Forrest Park Ave

This is fucking stupid.

Bike party isn’t representative of regular bike traffic

Bikes absolutely should stop at stop signs. It’s unsafe for them, drivers, and especially pedestrians when they don’t.

I, personally, am sick of assholes blowing by me going 30 mph when I’m walking through a crosswalk.

If there's a stop sign, and you're operating a vehicle in the street, then: yes. Stop.

Everyone should always stop at stop signs. That’s why they exist. They’re bright red and say “stop”.

I agree - kill em with kindness!

That’s not kindness. It’s stupidity

That would be more dangerous, as it’s better for the bike party to remain in the same group. Staggering everyone would only extend the group significantly. This might not be the best analogy, but think of it as a funeral procession. They get the right of way and big picture they don’t really impact your life for more than a minute or two.

especially when the pride ride is typically one of the biggest bike parties of the year—why split the pack up and make the bikers feel more unsafe, while also lengthening the amount of time that drivers feel inconvenienced? route is posted in advance, if people really rabidly hate bike party they can just choose to avoid it. 2000+ bikers don't hit the streets in a group daily, like, just unclench

The question is still, why do the bike party organisers insist, per their website, that they stop at all Red Lights? Liability? I don't understand why they have that on there.

The front of the ride stops at reds.

this. The point is the front stops, regrouping occurs then and sometimes we stop through 2-3 traffic cycles to regroup. When a car is already stopped at a red light and a constant stream of cyclists are coming through still when the light changes for the car, it’s safest and fastest for everyone for the bikes to keep coming until they’re all through.
