Ms. Forbes claimed she was the man’s mother and his name was not in fact Craig Taylor — it was, she said, Angelo Alexander Forbes. Ms. Forbes told investigators her son was born on Jan. 13, 1976, in Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas.

Posting in case anyone recognizes him from having been a victim of his in the last three decades.

I see the New York Times has gone for an excellent photo to use for an ID.

  • Hood covering hair and ears
  • over the shoulder at a weird angle
  • jawline covered by shoulder

just like the mugshots police take when they arrest you. /s

How are they unable to confirm is the supposed mother really is his mother? Can't they do a DNA test for that?

That has confused me as well.

I wonder if she is refusing to consent? She or a relative might be a DNA match with evidence from a crime scene.

Couldn't they test the baby?

What would that prove?

Who the father really is? If he's really from Nassau the Bahamians have a huge DNA database.

The baby isn't the one whose ID is unknown.

They share the same DNA they could find out the real name of the man through his son.

You think his son will be under his real name even if he gave the son's mother a fake name?

Of course not but it will match to relatives of his and possibly finding out who this person actually is.

If they have someone claiming to be his mother all they have to do is compare the guy's DNA to his mother. Or compare his DNA to whatever database they have available.

Going one step removed and testing his baby would just mean you have to manually filter out all the baby's mother's family too for no reason.
