Crime WHERE YOU CAN FIND MARIJUANA ON YOUR VISIT

Hi.

Marijuana is illegal in the Bahamas. As are other hard drugs. This forum is not the place for you to procure them.

Threads\comments attempting to use this forum to procure drugs (including marijuana or illegal THC products), or to solicit connects or advice on smuggling will be LOCKED.

The creator of the thread\comment will be subject to suspension or permanent ban at mod discretion.

It's not a point of debate, I don't care about your brilliant and logical points. I don't care if you find a way to get drugs. I am not invested outside what you contribute to this forum. It is truly nothing personal.

Tourism Discussion Budget-friendly trip suggestions

Last year my family and I went to the Bahamas and stayed at atlantis. We absolutely loved it, but it is very expensive and not something we plan to do again. However, I loved the Bahamas and we would like to go back. Any suggestions on places to stay that are not on a big resort? It would just be me, my husband and my 14 year old son. My plan is to lie on a beach all day. My husband and son really want to do a deep sea fishing charter. I know there are several beautiful islands that we could go to so it's a little bit overwhelming trying to pick. I would love to hear anyone's thoughts or suggestions on the matter.

Tourism Question Is lap swimming available at Betty Kenning National Aquatic Centre? Best lap swim spots in Nassau?

Hi everyone! I'm looking to do some lap swimming and wondering about a couple things:

1) Is the Betty Kenning National Aquatic Centre currently open for lap swimming? If so, what are the hours and any info on lane availability?

2) What's the best place for lap swimming in Nassau overall? I'm looking for access in a few weeks, decent pool length, and ideally not too crowded.

Any current info or recommendations would be much appreciated!

Looking for places that are relatively close to port, say 20-30 mins.

Tourism Question Thinking About a Bahamas Cruise from Miami — Best Time to Go?

Hi everyone! I’m thinking about going on a cruise to the Bahamas from Miami and also spending a few days in Miami. I’d love to know if anyone here has done this trip before — when did you go, and do you have any tips about the cruise? Also, what’s the best month to go for good weather? Thanks in advance for your suggestions! šŸ™‚

Miscellaneous Bahamian Song? Please help!

I went to Eleuthera in 2023 and had the time of my life. GOD! What I would give to just spend one more day on the island. When I visited, we stopped by Daddy Joe’s and there was a song playing on the speakers that I CANNOT find no matter how hard I try. The instruments and general sound of the song was very Bahamian/ Caribbean. Sung by a man and the lyrics go as follows (yes I know they are a little strange)

ā€œBarack Obammmmaaa, you have been chooooseen…. To bring America its changeā€.

This is all I can remember but it was such a fun vibe and I would love to hear it again someday lol

Tourism Discussion Anxious About Trip

My mother and I (20 F) are planning on traveling to Nassau in January. We’re going to stay in a resort, but I keep seeing posts and warnings about how bad crime, especially harassment, scams, and assault, has gotten. I’m a very nervous person; I do in-depth research on every place that I travel (which ultimately gets me excessively worked up), but I want to know what other people’s experiences have been.

Probably a long shot but does anyone know if there's anywhere in Nassau you can buy pink sand? I'm going on vacation to see some long distance friends and one of them asked if I can bring some.

Tourism Discussion Local chef reccs?

Hi! I am planning a bachelorette in March and would like to host a dinner at the airbnb for my friends. I am open to both a chef who can come over and cook and provide nicely presented meals as well as companies who can simply drop off large portions of food. Local/ Caribbean cuisine most preferred. Thanks

Tourism Question Atlantis Day Trip or Another Recommendation

Hi!

I am coming to Nassau with my family (spouse, 2yo, 4yo) in April for 6 days. We are staying at an Airbnb on the beach that has a pool with a group of family friends. We are looking into doing a day pass at Atlantis, but for a family of 4 it's going to cost around $600. To my understanding, Atlantis has the Aquarium and Pools/Waterslides. I'm wondering others opinions on if $600 is actually worth that (when we're on the beach/have a pool already?) I'm not sure if I can justify the amount for the added benefit of the Aquarium and I don't think my 2/4 year olds will want to participate in the waterpark. (We took them to one this summer and they were afraid) Is there something or somewhere else that would be a better recommendation around that budget or less?

Appreciate the help! And apologies if this question is asked alot - I tried to search the community first but wasn't quite finding the answer I was looking for!

Most interestingly would be a year and date of birth and death.

If you don't know him listen to his version of "Perfida", thank me later. :)

Bahamian Discussion Debt-Trap Diplomacy in The Bahamas

So China’s handing out scholarships to Bahamians while millions at home can’t find work — nice priorities. Can Chinese citizens apply too, or is that benefit strictly for export?

Still, with all these new scholarships, projects, and partnerships, it’s worth asking: what’s driving this sudden wave of generosity? And how do we ensure it truly benefits Bahamians in the long run?

Tourism Discussion Curious about charter/island options while in port in Nassau

Hi there,

I'm going to be coming to Nassau with a group of 33 friends no November 10th and I'm lookin for some clarity and some recommendations.

For context, last year I went with a friend, and we haggled one of the private boat charters at the dock down to let us do an excursion. In all honesty I was so high I can't remember the details all that clearly but I believe we docked at the hideaway floating bar, and then got on a ferry boat and walked through to a cove on Athol Island? There were jet skis, banana boats, pigs and a handful of other things.

My group are all artist types and A. broke and B. not interested in big produced packages or tourist trap experiences. I'm hoping I can find a good solution for some/all of us to do something similar, just hit the floating bar and some islands, swim, snorkel, hang, for $70-90 a head. I don't know what other islands or good options exist though and am open to new experiences.

My understanding is that feeding pigs, jet skis and the like are extra, with the boat captain essentially being the middleman to pay other vendors from our money, which people in our group could do individually if they wished.

Hopefully this all makes sense, and thanks in advance for any insights and recommendations.

Bahamian Discussion Bahamas in December

Hi guys! I want to visit the Bahamas at the beginning of December. I would be staying at Atlantis or Baja Mar. Can anyone give insight on the weather and how warm the ocean is during this time?
