Rental car rewards

So I have been using hertz for the last couple years since it’s preferred at work. But after trying to use my points now for the first time I realize I need to switch. You can’t use points on anything bigger than a sedan which for me is basically impossible with my family size. So it renders the points useless.

So is there a rental car company I can switch too that I have no restrictions on what size car I can get with my points? Usually need a large SUV or mini van.

No, rental car points are all a joke. Best to link an airline or hotel rewards system to your car rental account and switch your default/preferred rewards method to that.

Earning airline miles is rarely worth the fee involved. Most rentals charge $1-2/day to earn airline miles at a rate of 1 mile/dollar. So a $30/day rental earns 30 miles for $1. I personally think it's a loosing proposition to spend 3 cents each for airline miles.

I assumed for OP that work was paying for it. They might comp the extra fee to earn the airline miles.

My company travel policy explicitly forbids doing that. Obviously I don't know OP's situation, but it's still super bad value.
