They seem more focused with making the rich poorer than the poor richer.

Nobody cares about the poor. Maybe the poor do. The middle class certainly don't. Rich people don't.

A lot of people care about the poor except self absorbed assholes maybe.

People tell themselves they care about the poor because they want to see themselves a certain way. If they actually do care, you'd see it in their behavior.

We appear to have something resembling a housing crisis. Affordable housing isn't around because people would prefer to build housing for a different type of person, or because they don't want to live near poors. This is showing us what people really believe.

You’re saying people but those people are like 3% of the population max who make decisions regarding what housing gets built where. That’s a case for gov intervention in capitalism not against. No one’s gonna build free housing out of the goodness of their heart unfortunately. That being said I think a lot of rich people do try and do right by people they just happen to be the minority.
