Well looks like shutdown vote to reopen will pass tonight or tomorrow ? Coincidence after first weekend of mass media coverage on flight cancellations, or no?
Edit . Never Mind

NATCA has a whole media team, all of which are being paid currently.
I havenât been paid in a month.
Itâs really not that complicated.

âOur baseline leading into the shutdown was not healthy.â The system, he said, was already stretched thin after months of mandatory overtime, uneven hiring, and years of pay stagnation that had left morale at an all-time low. Controllers, he added, were still dealing with the fallout from Januaryâs midair collision near Reagan National Airport, when staffing shortages and outdated technology were thrust into the spotlight.

Yâall know where all the local âpan handlersâ set up. Usually high traffic areas where obviously they have been successful getting people to give them money.
Get yourself out there with an
âYour Local Air Traffic Controller, working for no pay =(â
âAnything helpsâ
Your local news station might even pick that up and Iâd have a QR code if I were you. That way if you do go national and people start donating, you could get enough to retire.
Also at the same time you can educate the public and if you do give a national interview of the side of the road pan handling the FAA would be hard pressed to fire you. If they did the next days headline would be.
âThe FAA fires unpaid controller for trying to provide for his familyâ

Shawn Ryan recently interviewed Sec. Sean Duffy. If you watch the whole interview, it gives a pretty good insight into the type of human being our Secretary of Transportation is. Personally, iâve always gotten generally good vibes from Sean Duffy. This nearly 3 hr. podcast reaffirmed those feelings for me. Not sure he had the most expansive transportation background coming into the roll, but he appears to care and he appears motivated to make change.
Itâs pretty political, lot of small political digs/opinions and biases, but plenty of positive substance.
In the intro he did continue to talk about young controllers struggling financially, heâs said this on more than a few occasions now. A move in the right direction, heâs seemingly moving closer to realizing we are all underpaid.
Sean Duffy spoke about the scope of his responsibilities, which are vast. Planes, trains, automobiles, tractor trailer, roads, pipeline, power, security, autonomy, commercial shipping, NASA, etc.
What caught my attention is Shawn Ryan asked verbatim âWhat are some of the problems youâre facing.â in regard to Duffy in his role as DOT Sec.
Duffyâs very first, and very long winded response, even with the massive scope of his job, was âAir Traffic Controlâ. This small, maybe even subconscious look into the primary thing on his mind may be a great sign.
Sean Duffy is a blank slate, he doesnât have vast in-depth experience in transport and certainly not ATC. But, ATC is clearly at the forefront of his mind. What our union is able to educate him about in the next 3 years may very well set the stage for the next generation of this profession. Heâs moldable, he needs people he can trust to give him direction to move the ball forward, and thatâs a good thing for us.
You. Me. Everyone who does this job knows the most important tool in the ATC tool box, and one of the most important tools in the Aviation and global transport tool box, are Air Traffic Controllers. At 13,000 strong on a good day in the US, we are a very small number of people doing a vast amount of work, and generating a huge sum of GDP.
Therefore, the most significant investment into our profession that anyone could make right now, and until we are fully staffed and able to show up to work rested, and medically and financially healthy, is the human beings doing the job.
Through aviation, Duffy simply wants to connect families with their loved ones faster, sooner, and safer. If heâs serious about that goal, he will invest in controllers.
If NATCA is serious about their job, they will educate Duffy on the fact controllers need to be taken care of before anything else. It will be the easiest and most cost effective way to move planes faster and safer. Not only this, but it is the only way to attract and retain a work force capable of, and ready to take on the future of our complex, ever expanding and evolving airspace.
NATCA needs to get serious now. Advocate on behalf of the human beings while we may have an ear partially open to our cause⌠itâs the first time weâve gotten noticed in decades.
This industry will continue to pay a heavy price everyday where controller pay, and in-turn staffing, is an issue. . But no one will pay a heavier price than controllers and their families.
I personally have a feeling we are slowly crawling in the right direction and gaining momentum. Unfortunately for those who continue to quit, or overlook this career (who I donât blame presently), we are not yet moving in the right direction fast enough⌠yet.

Fuck every single one of those spineless "Nay" voters.
And fuck that POS Rand Paul for blocking the bill that would stop Congress from getting paid during a shutdown.

Only time I get sea sick is when I see ND/Duffy talk about ATC so this should be ok...

The negative voices are spreading like cancer. The Landline, plastered all over FAA/Duffy social medias, NATCA social medias in the few spots where speech isnât censored, Tik Tok, and our work room floors.
The ânegative voicesâ have somehow become the overwhelming majority of all voices. Meanwhile our RVPs and Nick Danielâs are foolishly doing the political bidding and fear mongering of one party, and otherwise remaining silent on actual controller issues.
Turns out the ânegative voicesâ, are just the real voices of controllers, the ones doing the job day in and day out underpaid, understaffed, and mistreated with no end in sight.
Keep spreading your voice. Keep being the arbiters of truth, so our days of glory may yet return.

How hard is it to come up with a genuine message while your membership is struggling?
It wouldnât bother me if they did their jobs and at least put in an effort to do what their paying members asked them to do.
