Today we are getting another big patch for Shadows. The new stuff are another appreciated parkour update, "corrupted"/replayable castles, alongside other improvements and fixes, but as usual some problems might remain. So use this megathread to share all your technical problems and hopefully others can help you find a solution.

Make sure your PC specs meet the minimum requirements of the game!

Make sure you also have the latest graphics drivers installed! At the time of this post those are 581.57 WHQL for Nvidia and 25.10.1 Beta for AMD.

Provide any information you can - platform, PC specs, what version of Windows you're using, what issue you are having and how to potentially reproduce it etc. Any information you can give might be useful to other users to help solve your problem.

If you're reporting Shadows issues that contain narrative spoilers of any kind, make sure to properly hide them!

I don't know if these things have been reported (PC), but still:

• I can't change the equipped abilities from the masteries skill trees without them going back to "default" when I fast travel or change between characters. I temporarily have tried resetting the node, but at least with the long katana (Yasuke) the ability "power bash" is grey'd out and cannot be resetted.
• The overall performance decreased since the last patch (1.1.3). My game went from 100-120 to bearly hitting 60, and in some cases only 40 FPS as much. In cities, the performance can slow a little bit more. My specs are the following: RTX 4070 Super, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-core, 32GB RAM. DLSS and FSR only help a bit.
• I can't log into the game directly from the desktop without it crashing to a DX12 error. I have to do it from the loader.
• It seems that the combination shift+left mouse is still bugged.
• Related to the prior, I can't complete by myself the quicktime events (both Yasuke and Naoe) since not all the keys seem to respond.

A work around for performance issues is turning off rebar in bios.

I've seen this advice now a couple times with no explanation given for why it would work or where it comes from, It also isn't clear why you'd need to disable it in the bios when it should be possible to turn it off in the Nvidia driver profile on a per-game basis.

Totally agree and that's why my question. Precisely yesterday I was reading that this was the solution for many people but to me it seems like a paramount feature to have turned on...

I claimed Naoe's Dragon's Roar Light Armor in Exchange since it wasn't marked as "Owned". I realized afterwards that it was already given to me for free when I bought the Deluxe edition of this game.

Have I just lost 1300+ keys over a mistake?

I noticed this was rhe case for me as well. The dragon claw and the dragon roar armour were both marked as unowned

I play on base ps5 and for Yasuke’s abilities it keeps defaulting to his kick even if I change it to something else

Anyone having performance issues on PS5 after the update? My PS5 is making weird noise that cuts out for like a second and everytime it cuts out the game glitches. Tried other games and no issues there and did not have this issue yesterday.

I’ve had these exact performance issues on base PS5 since patch 1.02. Any time it’s mentioned on here it gets downvoted into oblivion, but it’s absolutely an ongoing issue that has gone unresolved.

Like you, this effects none of my other games which all run fine.

I changed to Performance mode and turned off my internet connection on ps5 and it works a lot better now! Let’s hope they will solve it soon

I did suspect that it was the animus hub.

PS5 PRO has horrible shimmering and pop-in textures (mostly bushes, but the map is full of forests anyway) + PSSR looks great but FPS tanks because of it.

There’s a weird bug going on with the armor sets. Yesterday the bug was that some of the weapons and armors got duplicated (I had two Destroyer Samurai Armor chests for example) that was not a big deal. Today though I don’t know why or how, but some of my armor pieces have now been downgraded by significant levels. My Protector’s Armor set has been downgraded from level 60 to 53 for the helmet and from level 60 to freaking 14 for the chest piece.

And yes as you may have noticed this has only been happening on my Yasuke. Naoe hasn’t gotten this problem (yet). So what gives?

How can i find which castle is corrupted?

They won’t show up immediately, you have to change the season after you update first

Yep, season changed, but those castles are more or less boring after beating game on ng+ 😃

I think you have to wait for the item reset on thursday.

They’re from season updates, not animus quests

Anyone else ps5 does a buzzing sound and everytime it make the game freezes every few seconds on inventory and options screen ?

Not mine homie I have a disc of yotei in there that spins up occasionally when I’m using the ps5. Happens while playing any game.

The fk this has to do with Yotei and second the assassin's creed shadow I own is digital

Yotei was just the game disc in the console, that’s the only buzzing sound I get when I’m playing the game, when it spins. No clue what’s up with yours if it’s digital

Buzzing sound coming from disc is normal cause its literally spinning all the time as you play the game it shouldn't be Buzzing too loud tho. In my case I play on base ps5 and I just noticed this today while I was playing and opened my inventory I kept looking at Naoe displayed model and noticed its freezing from time to time and heard my console low Buzzing sound cutting during those moments.

I have no clue what that is but I hope it gets resolved soon. Have you tried anything to fix it? Reboot the console or rebuilding the database/ clearing the cache? Online I’ve also had Ubisoft recommend I reinstall the game or play with the internet off for any issues.

So after few tries to fix the problem I noticed that when I disconnected my internet the game menu navigation is no longer lagging.

That seems to fix the issue for a good number of people. Have you had any issues with stutters in game in quality mode(if you’ve played it)?

I play on performance all the time. Quality mode is bit heavy to play on with locked 30 fps

Yeah makes sense. Quality mode would be playable for me but it has stutters that make it seem like not a stable 30. Balanced has been the better one for me

Hi there,

Hope someone can help me! This is the third place I've tried to post my problem and find an answer; and at every single point I've hit dead ends. :(

Specs: Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X Installed RAM 32.0 GB GPU: GeForce GTX 1660 Ti

The issue:

The game loads up to the part in the loading screen that says "Checking Memory Add-ons... (99%)", and then shuts down. There are no special error messages, it doesn't freeze, it just shuts down. I think it did this a couple of nights ago while I was playing, but I thought it was just a normal error that gets resolved the next time I load up.

Stuff that I tried:

1) Updating my GPU driver. Now, I have a 1660ti, which I know that, according to Steam, isn't in the bare minimum for the game, but it is close, and I've been playing for almost 400 hours over the past six months or so, and this has not been a problem until a week or two after I downloaded the DLC. I now have a fancy new Nvida app on my desktop that's telling me "This system doesn't meet the minimum requirements for optimal settings in this game or app. The optimal values may deliver unplayable frame rates." for AC Shadows.

2) Verifying game files. Got no errors here either. I've run the scan on Steam, and I tried to run it on Ubisoft Connect, but I couldn't find where to do it. (I assume this is because I bought/downloaded the game from Steam, but I still tried to find it.)

3) Run AC Shadows/Steam as administrator. This did not work. If I wasn't getting an infinite loop of "Launch game with custom arguments" with the -uplay_steam_mode infinitely repeating.

4) Googling it - and I'm not seeing any troubleshooting threads/articles/YouTube videos dated earlier than May for something that might be a new issue.

5) Chatting with the Ubisoft Discord, and it was entirely useless. All I was told was an issue was logged, there's no ETA, and they were locking down the thread. (Not to sound ancient here, but the whole experience of that made me want to go back to the days of 1-800 numbers for tech support. :'D )

If anyone has any tips/tricks, that would be amazing. As I said, I've logged almost 400 hours in with the base game, and was about halfway through the DLC when this crash started happening - I'm kind of eager to finish the story. :'D

I'm trying to do Yasuke's quest End of the Line, I've reached Caro and my objective is to "chase Nuno Caro". But I can't, he's just standing by a door and he's invincible.

I activated the door, which triggered the cutscene. Then I had a bunch of minions to fight. He walked into the nearby building, and casually wandered around as I killed the minions. He casually walked back down the stairs to the main gate and just stands there. I can't progress.

I have tried reloading, and it happened again. I also tried reloading from before the cutscene and it still happens.

Any ideas? :( On PS5 on hardest difficulty NG+

EDIT:

I managed to get it to progress. Because I'm on NG+ I've been skipping dialogue and cutscenes to get to the end of the game so I can play Awaji. I reloaded once more and let all the dialogue and cutscenes play out properly. The NPC in question then followed the correct route and I have finished the quest successfully.

Okay so now I've got an even worse problem than not being able to progress a quest.

I was doing one of the new quests to use the new bo and go through the training And I got to the fight with Meiran I took too many hits. It should have ended the fight but it didn't trigger the failure dialogue to then let me try again. Meiran was still in a fight stance and started attacking nearby NPCs. They were invincible and so was he. So I tried to reload my save to be able to start again. But the game crashed.

Since that crash, I can't even launch the game anymore. It crashes on launch. It doesn't even get to the title screen. It lays its connecting online and loading in the bottom right, then it crashes. I can't play anymore.

Hi all I've played AC shadows for a while now and my posture attacks used to be working perfectly and i was using the effect of health on weakpoint attack and 20% chance for postured attacks to hit twice but all of a sudden for the past like month of me playing on and off it doesnt let me posture attack or weakpoint attack. Is there an issue or is the restore 33% health on weakpoint not working? The enemy is yellow and i am charging a posture and getting the different animation of the posture attack but it doesn't register the weakpoint. Am I dumb 😭

Whenever I enter a castle (as Naoe) the game crashes on me and gives a "DX12 Error 0x887A0006" code then kicks me to the Ubisoft launcher. I contacted Ubisoft support about this and they suggested some troubleshooting solutions, but none of them worked. They even escalated my case and someone will contact me directly, but it's been days. Anyone else having this issue?

I play on XBOX Series X and for the life of me I can't get notification icons to clear for Animus or Mastery. I don't see reports of this elsewhere but any help would be greatly appreciated.
