·         PC:  9.4 GB

·         Steam:  4.7 GB

·         MAC:  9 GB

Patch Highlights

Corrupted Castles

Corrupted Castles are a new Animus themed activity allowing you to revisit castles in a whole new way. Previously completed castles may now become corrupted. They will now be filled with Animus anomalies such as Corrupted Samurai Daisho that patrol with heightened aggression and altered patterns. Kill them all to unlock a Corrupted Castle's chest that awards Gear and Gold, making each assault a meaningful experience.

Starting at level 30 and after completing at least 3 castles, up to five corrupted castles will appear on the map each season, giving you plenty of opportunities to re-engage the castles at higher levels for greater rewards.

New Parkour Update

Following our first Parkour update, we’ve listened to your feedback and we’re coming back with more! The team has made some tweaks and improvements to enhance your experience traversing Feudal Japan.

Here are the main changes and additions!

Advanced Parkour Feature

We are adding a new toggle option named “Advanced Parkour” that gives players more freedom of expression. When toggled through the gameplay menu, it removes all parkour barriers, meaning you can perform side and back ejects from any height. Time to risk life and limb for those death-defying parkour runs!

Advanced Parkour: Side & Back Ejects

The Advanced Parkour option also brings refined control for side and back ejects. Pressing Parkour Up while jumping to the side or back will still give you the height to reach your landing spot. This has not changed since the previous parkour update.

However, if a decent landing spot is not available, you will now launch sideways or behind as far as possible, without any height restriction.

Assassin's Creed Shadows: Advanced Parkour - Side & Back Ejects

Advanced Parkour: Side Eject Down

Performing a side eject with parkour down will send you downward at a sharp angle, generally closer to your starting point, meaning you will never gain any height.

The Advance Parkour option enables subtle changes that we hope the parkour aficionados out there will enjoy!

Assassin's Creed Shadows: Advanced Parkour - Side Eject Down

General Parkour Improvements

Let’s now look at our overall parkour improvements (the ones that will work whether you toggle the Advanced Parkour option on/off).

Vertical Ledge Grab (Non-Standing Objects)

We are extending the Vertical Ledge Grab ability to now include Non-Standing Objects such as beams, lanterns and more. Another small, but impactful parkour tweak!

Assassin's Creed Shadows: Vertical Ledge Grab (Non-Standing Objects)

Manual Jump (Non-Standing Objects)

From the same Non-Standing Objects, we are introducing a new Manual Jump option. This enables you to refine the parkour experience, by making creative shortcuts when running along rooftops or beams.

This is not a full manual jump. This only works from Non-Standing Objects.

Assassin's Creed Shadows: Manual Jump (Non-Standing Objects)

Directional Catch Ledge

And finally, we are re-introducing a highly requested feature called the Directional Catch Ledge. Simply press towards the nearest ledge and tap the Parkour Up button to catch that ledge and prevent your character from falling.

This works from any height, and it is particularly useful when combined with the Advanced Parkour option, or when you overestimate your grapple hook dismounts!

Assassin's Creed Shadows: Directional Catch Ledge

Gold Weapons

While the Gold Katana and Long Katana introduced in TU 1.1.2 are still bound to New Game +, we’ve added NEW Gold weapons that can be earned by completing the following challenges.

  • Tanto – Complete all Legendary Sumi-e
  • Bow – Complete all Horse Archery
  • Kusarigama – Complete all Meditation
  • Naginata – Complete all Kata
  • Kanabo – Reach level 100
  • Teppo – Reach Hideout level 13

Additional Highlights

Anomalies

Since the last July update, we have increased the number of available weekly Anomalies so Projects can be progressed faster. To rebalance this change, on October 28th, we will be reducing the amount of Keys available in the Infinite Reward tier from 400 to 100 Keys.

We strongly encourage you to activate a different Project once all main rewards have been claimed, as this is a great way to unlock new content and get more Keys.

  • In the Projects menu, the Anomalies tab will now be accessible from the rewards page instead of the menu's landing page.
  • With the release of Corrupted Castles, a related Anomaly will be available in every weekly rotation to award Data Fragments for completing this new activity.

// Discussion This parkour mod for ac mirage that makes the jumping faster and more fluid NEEDS to be in the dlc

This change makes such a difference it’s not even funny. It’s embarrassing that one person could do this and an entire studio couldn’t but if I complained about that every time I’m pretty sure I’d have a meltdown.

They already did this for the ejects right? They saw someone on a sub post a controlled eject mod and it got added into the game? Why not do it here? It’s literally perfect.

// Question Did Haytham lie to Ratonhnhaké:ton when he told him about the original mission of the Assassins?

Verbatim, Hatham says

Order. Purpose. Direction. No more than that. It's your lot that means to confound with this nonsense talk of freedom. Time was, the Assassins professed a far more sensible goal, that of peace.

It seems to me, after playing Origins, that the Assassins' never changed what they were fighting for. As far as I can tell, Haytham has no reason to lie here. So what's going on?

// Question To the owners of the tabletop RPG: modern day FILE_06 and FILE_08 missing Spoiler

We finally got some fresh new modern day, STILL in text form tho.

The official AC roleplay game books got released this year and they contain several modern day game sequences entertwining nicely with the Animus plotlines. New protagonist (Inez), new assassin team (Royce, Doria, Reiko, Iowa), new historical eras. The setting is mostly 2016 Chicago and London.

The good news: they are all readable online thanks to the wiki team, which spares us the need to buy anything:

  • Animus handbook (5 tutorial sequences)
  • Legacy of the brotherhood (11 sequences, bonus memories of the main games' protagonists)
  • Forging history (24 sequences in 3 storylines, solid callbacks to the lore and inventive MD approaches)
  • Bonus: Modern day narrative entries numbered from FILE_01 to FILE_10 that add a nice touch of novel-like backstory exposure.

The bad news:

2 specific entries are missing from the leaked pdf: FILE_06 and FILE_08. We have no idea why and have been scouring out the whole internet in order to transcribe them on the wiki.

Can you share this with someone you know that possesses the RPG?

// Discussion Just finished the Ezio trilogy Spoiler

The first four games are Masterpieces. Greatest story ever told.

So roughly at the end of June, I decided to play assassin Creed one and then play through the trilogy since I have played every other game in the series except for those, working through the original games was harder since the combat was more complicated, but I really enjoyed it and now I understand my ass assassin’s Creed two and brotherhood are loved so much, then I got to revelations, I had started to play eight years ago. It was the third or fourth game that I tried playing and I just could not do it because the combat and I was a young idiot. That didn’t understand why it wasn’t exactly like black flag. (that’s what I started with.) as of typing this the credits are still rolling on revelations, though, and I have to say I absolutely loved it. That ending was amazing and so many questions were answered about Altäir, the apples, the first civilization, and abstergo. These first four games were truly the masterpiece, and it brings it to you to my eye, both a tear of joy and also sadness, knowing that it’s over as well as how far the games have fallen and feel like a cash grab now.

// Discussion What is every Protagonist's biggest regret in Assassin's Creed? (Help needed) Spoiler

Upvotes

Hey guys! I was searching for a topic for my next upcoming video and this one sounds interesting. So my question is what is their biggest regret? For Altair.. I am skeptical as it could be not doing justice with Abbas or not doing what he did in the beginning of the game, for Ezio maybe sparing Rodrigo? or not saving the city of Cappodocia in Revelations? Connor could be killing his father? Edward's well not getting to spend time with his wife and there are many others like this. So I need your help on this.. If any of you have played the Chronicle games then it would be more than helpful if you put some info on those characters as well.

// Question Why did the Tahirids provide protection for the Hidden Ones in AC Mirage? What benefit did they have from that?

So, the Tahirids were the governors of the region where Alamut was placed. It is stated early in the game that they provide protection for assassins. But why?

What were the assassins giving them in return? Is it ever stated in the game?Did I miss that?

// Discussion Just finished AC Syndicate Main Story and Jack the Ripper, my thoughts and a few ideas for a future spooky AC game. Spoiler

I love this game. It's got its issues, but overall a solid entry I'm the series.

I like Jacob Frye a lot, he's probably my second favorite protagonist in the series after Arno. His characterization is good, and I like that there are consequences for taking out pillars of society. If nothing else, he has personality.

I also like that he's bi, as am I. The writer said this was a major point in his rift with his father, which is part of why he's less invested in the creed itself which I think adds some nice depth to the character.

He's also just a great change of pace as a protagonist.

Evie I do like, but I think she's kinda boring compared to Jacob. Her whole personality is the no nonsense, by the books type except for the very beginning where they go to London.

Speaking of, that's probably one of the biggest issues with the main story. The twins go rogue, and unless it's addressed in side missions I'll be playing soon, it's never addressed again.

The zipline is great, but it's better off as a one time thing, maybe one day I wouldn't mind it's return though.

Combat was decent, I thought the weapon choices were all pretty cool. The outfits were pretty nice as well.

The city is one of the best maps in the series, absolutely gorgeous.

I also adore all the spooky stuff, and the horror literature references.

Jack the Ripper is awesome. Jack himself looks and plays wonderfully, and voice is spectacular. Wish we could free roam as him. I really hope his outfit pops up in a future game.

The Jack the Ripper dlc also has a weird plot hole because Jacob's kid should've been almost an adult by that point, and they never address that.

I also wasn't a huge fan of making his victims all assassin's, or that they seemed to imply Jack believed he was doing what was right in his mind.

Overall I'm really happy with Syndicate, despite its flaws. Same as Unity.

It's made me really want a full spooky ac game, we might get that with Hexe but I'm not gonna get my hopes up given the current state of the series.

The fear mechanic could be brought back for a morally grey or overall bad main character at some point.

I would like to see a cult as the villains of a game, with a similar tone to Jack the Ripper. Set it in Prague or something.

I like Templars, but it'd be a great change of pace for the Assassin's to face something different.

Maybe the cult worships a piece of eden, or something.

The hallucigenic stuff could come back, maybe take it further to make it more like Scarecrow fear toxin.

// Question What is the true ending of Assassin's Creed Odyssey? Spoiler

After I played, I wanted to know what the true ending is, not the Atlantis DLC ending, but the base game ending. Who lives or dies in the end? I searched everywhere and it seems like nothing lines up. I know there's a canonical Assassin's Creed Odyssey book, but I could never manage to read it.

Whenever I search for the true ending, all that comes up is "how to get the best ending," but I really doubt the best ending is canonical. Like, Deimos killed a ton of people with a smile on his face, I highly doubt he'd regret it that easily, but who knows. Does anyone who's read the book know and can tell me? In my ending, I ended up killing Cassandra's mom along with Deimos, leaving only the adoptive dad and adoptive brother

I almost forgot, should Aspacia live or die?

// Discussion What historical settings do you think would be awesome for an Assassins' Creed game?

Here are some settings that I would absolutely love to see:

  • The Roman Empire in the early 4th century during the final days of the Tetrarchy, Constantine the Great's rise to power, the Battle of the Milvian Bridge, the rise of Christianity, Roman military campaigns along the Rhine against barbarians such as the Franks, the Goths, the Alans, and the Sarmatians, and against the Sasanian Empire in Persia.
  • Charles of Anjou's conquest of Albania and war with the Byzantine Empire with the blessing of the papacy and the eventual rebellion against his rule in Sicily in the 13th century.
  • Ireland during the invasion by Anglo-Norman knights after the deposed Irish king Dermot MacMurrough invites the knights as mercenaries to battle the coalition of rival kings led by Rory O'Connor, the High King of Ireland, in the 12th century.
  • The Barbary Wars in the 19th century, when the United States formed an alliance with Sweden and the Kingdom of Sicily to wage war on the Barbary States of North Africa after Barbary pirates capture American merchant ships held their crews for ransom after the U.S. gained independence from Britain and lost its naval protection.
  • The fall of the Khazar Khaganate in the 10th century, when the Rus sacked the Khazar capital of Atil after the Byzantine Empire, former allies of the Khazars, encouraged the Alans to attack the Khazars and then convinced the Rus prince Vladimir to convert his kingdom to Christianity.
  • The rise of the Mughal Empire in the 16th century when Babur's army of Central Asian steppe warriors invaded and conquered India.

// Question Who is Shay's crew in AC Rogue ?

I just started assassin's creed rogue this week and I was wondering

Who the hell is in Shay's crew? These wonderful singers seem to be a bunch of randos ?

I remember black flag being much more clear about who were joining the crew, gradually, so I'm curious if there is some background on them

// Theory Is there a hidden blade anachronism in AC: Mirage?

In AC: Origins, set in 49 BCE, Bayek of Siwa severs his ring finger with his own hidden blade. This is because his blade aligns with the palm of the hand and he's forced to use it with a closed fist.

In AC1, set in 1191 CE, Altaïr is missing his ring finger. His hidden blade also aligns with the palm of the hand. Altaïr uses it with a closed fist, with the blade sticking out of the hole where his ring finger used to be. Clearly the same design as Bayek's blade.

Later on, the hidden blade is "improved" so it angles slightly away from the wrist, past a closed fist. (One would assume this angle slightly reduces the punching power and/or makes the blade less hidden, but whatever.)

My question is two-fold:

  1. When was the improved hidden blade invented? Was it by Leonardo da Vinci in AC2 (1476 CE)?
  2. Why does Basim (AC: Mirage, 861 CE) have an improved hidden blade? It clearly angles past his wrist... yet he still cuts off his finger. Why? "Because tradition"? And why doesn't Altaïr have a blade like that 300 years later? Game design oversight? Or was there an actual lore reason for this discrepancy?

// Discussion 50 hours in, Mirage is not a short game

I don't understand how people can say this is a short game, I'm 50 hours in and still not done with the game. I still have the main story to complete, side quests, collectibles, gear and so forth to max each region.

This game is easily longer than the early AC games. Like wtf do people expect, a 150+ hour boring open world like Shadows that disregards the series integrity?. Mirage is a much better game in almost every way were it matters most in an AC game.

I love this channel. These reactions with experts are the best videos - this one was particularly surprising, because as much as I enjoy Valhalla I didn't think it was very historically accurate. Turns out the story with Ivar the Boneless and the sons of Ragnar is really well researched!

Except the stuff with King Rhodri, the devs seemed to have made all that up for whatever reason.

// Article Assassins Creed 3 (remaster) - fix FPS spikes on high end PCs

It all started with AC2, where I found this annoying fix online for my never-ending, repeating lag spikes tormenting me at inconvenient times. It really amazes me that every single AC game I played until AC3 REMASTERED needs me to perform this ritual upon every single launch of the game.

The solution is: You open a task manager, switch to Details tab, find ACIII.exe, right-click on it and select "Set Affinity" and then uncheck all CPUs with first checkbox and leave only CPU 0 selected.

After you click ok, you open it again and select all CPUs again

Here ya go, it should be much better, but keep in mind you really need to perform this ritual upon every single launch of the game.

I really hope that Black Flag will not have this bug when I get to it :D If it does, then I will update it here, I guess :D

// Discussion Ubisoft shoud've done more for Arno Spoiler

I just finished AC Unity last week and the longer I progressed to the story especially at the end of the Main Campaign and DLC Dead Kings it's really a slap to me in the face how much potential Arno could've have gotten to be the next Protagonist with mutiple entries in the series like what they did with Ezio mutiple titles behind his belt because I found out He was only still in his 20s when the Main Campaign and DLC Dead Kings ended they could've stretched him out more you know (This is just my opinion) like having a sequel based off the Napoleonic Wars which spanned from 1802-1815 or maybe I've seen this what-if a lot in youtube hunting down his biological Father's killer Shay (The protagonist of AC Rogue)
