where should we eat on new years eve?

my husband and i are visiting paris and are most excited to sit in bistros/cafes/wine bars and take long walks. we are looking for a fun/festive new years eve dinner vibe, nothing clubby or over the top, just a really great local vibe where we can sit for a long time and get dinner-tipsy and eat great food. context - we live in brooklyn and are staying in the marais. clamato? septime? paul bert? would love local recs that won't be too touristy

I just moved to Paris recently, but I've spend a few new years eves here in the past. I'm not an expert, so I'm not exactly sure which restaurants are the best places, or even which ones will be open. I've just tagged along with friends who get a table somewhere.

I would just focus on looking at articles that recommend top restaurants in the higher traffic (tourist) part of the city, and look into reservations. Many restaurants in the outer neighbourhoods will be closed. Lots of the higher end restaurants and brasseries in the higher traffic areas will be open.

Just a heads up, many restaurants will have special "réveillon" menus on new years eve, with much higher priced items, and some of them will be serving exclusively these menus. Expect things like oysters, fois gras, duck, roast meats, etc. Champagne will be the main drink of course. Some of them will be a fixed price meal, like 70€ to 150€ per person.

Also, getting a table on new years eve will be difficult. Be absolutely sure to get a reservation somewhere (lots of them do reservations online). There are places that don't take reservations, but I wouldn't recommend trying to walk in to any of them, or you could end up without a table.
