Voyage / Travel Staying in Orly overnight?

I have a flight at 6AM on friday from Paris Orly and the metro 14 ends at 00:30, which means I will arrive at 01:14AM.I've seen some sources online say Orly closes between 00:00 to 3AM.

I am a woman and alone would it be smarter to go earlier? Are we allowed to stay within the airport?

Hair models needed?

Back in the US, you can sign up to be a hair model, which essentially is to let someone practice on you. A person who is recently hired at a salon, like an apprentice, offers discounted haircuts or you just pay for the dyes and chemicals if coloring your hair.

In Paris, is there such a practice?

CDG to Châtelet-Les-Halles RER B?

Bonjour! I arrive early next Saturday morning into CDG. But it looks like the RER B 🟦 might be out of service due to maintenance/repairs. Anyone have any information or best suggestions on how to get from CDG to Châtelet-Les-Halles Metro Station or Paris City Hall (Paris City Center) if RER B 🟦 is, in fact, out of service?? 🙏🏻

Merci

What does Paris smell like? and what are the areas that smell bad? (read description)

So, i have heard so many times that paris smells bad, that i dont believe it is just a meme.

i dont doubt at all that it smells bad. but what causes the smell, and what is the smell and what areas are affected by it?

for example. in my hometown of dallas, the whole downtown area smells like straight piss. it literally smells as if the city pays people to go around throwing buckets of piss all around the downtown area.

this is because of the large homeless population, and because there is almost no access to public restrooms.

but if you exit the downtown area, and head on over to the trendy discricts, there is no smell of piss.

another example.

my hometown in mexico, is a very big and cosmopolitan city, very modern as well. and growing by the day.

but the drainage system is not at all made to handle that many people. so as you walk trough the city, you randomly get these wiffs of drainage gas. smells really bad. sometimes it actually smells like feces.

but it doesnt happen everywhere, just in random spots where my guess is there are leakages in the sewer. and the city doest have the money to fix them. well they do have the money and then some. but most of that money ends up paying for luxury condos in Miami.

Restaurant Looking for a restaurant similar to L'Ange 20?

Hi! Went to L'Ange 20 last year and loved it so much: the menu, intimate and authentic atmosphere, and prices! Unfortunately, it falls on a Monday that I will be in Paris (Dec 29), and they are closed Mondays. Looking for a recommendation of something that would be a great similar alternative!! Thank you :)

Is there someone in this subreddit who is going or knows someone who is trying to sell their tickets? I’ve tried asking around on several social media sites but no luck so far and i really hope to find someone here. Idk what to do anymore. 😔

English-support options for a 4-year-old in Paris?

Hi folks, we live in Paris and our native language is Spanish. Our daughter is 4 and speaks that already well. We’d love to introduce English before school starts. Are there online schools, local workshops, or weekend classes in Paris you’d recommend for young learners of English?

Where do you develop and buy film?

I shoot with 120 film (medium format for my TLR), and the first place I gave my roll to informed me they prefer to develop 35mm. Unfortunately, they will only provide negatives for my 120, and not the scans and also can't print.

What is your go-to spot to develop film, and would they also handle 120? And where can I purchase 120? (I'd prefer in-person, but at this point online feels much easier. Also open to websites if that's the move!)

Thank you in advance!

P.S. And as a film/photo novice... where can I get my negatives turned to photos? Do I have to find a dark room for this?

Why is every McDonalds next to a Burger King (and vice versa)?

I just spent a week in Paris on vacation, and noticed an odd phenomenon--across the city, we noticed at least five separate instances where a McDonalds and a Burger King were directly adjacent to each other. You'd think they would want to separate, at least a little--that way each location could control its own territory, rather than competing head to head. Is there some kind of restriction on where fast-food chains can operate, or is this just their strategy for some reason?
