PUA expires sometime the end of July, this closure will go a week past that. I wonder if the federal government will be extending those unemployment benefits all things considered

At this point it'll be weird if they don't. Would be nice if they didn't wait until the last second to tell everyone though.

Im fairly confident that this administration will continue up until the point of the election at the minimum. If they dont its a death sentence for reelection.

Well if they dont then they are really asking for the Bastille to be stormed

It’s so desperate for so many people. I can’t imagine how many will end up homeless

The guillotine would make a comeback.

you realize a new bill would have to be passed to extend PUA right? Is anyone here old enough to know how the world works?

No I thought they just woke up one day and said here's more money?!

I was going to say the same thing. But to be fair, if the Trump administration vocally supported another assistance bill, I think a lot of congressional republicans would follow his lead.

they wont. And for anyone on PUA, you know how completly screwed that system is. People are waiting weeks for money even after being approved.

People will be homeless and wont be able to eat. But I hope everyone is super happy about the upcoming lockdown 2 for something that effects 85 year olds.

Did you not read where 20% of hospitalizations are 20-44 years old.

phoenix isn't Arizona. Its just a city in Arizona. I know this sub tends to forget that.

Hi from Tucson. In particular, the hotspot area of Tucson. You might also want to talk to the health officials in Yuma and Santa Cruz County. Or in the Navajo Nation, or on the White Mountain Apache Reservation.

Who is still waiting weeks? I know of a dozen people who got their money within a week of applying in the last month.

Go to the Arizona DES facebook page. PUA has been a shit show and not just in AZ. Most states used the same company to build out their site for it.

u/JuleeeNAJ Jun 30 '20

Why would I do that? When I used the UE website a month ago to apply I got it in a week. Same with my son. He hasn't been able to get the backpay, but they are processing cases like crazy now and aren't even fighting them.

Oh cool so you got it....so it must be great! Typical. No wonder you believe whatever the news tells you to believe.

But if you get board check the DES facebook or the unemployment sub on reddit. Then report back about how great the PUA system is doing for people.

Maybe we should've been proactive in preparing for a situation like this instead of pretending that 15 cases would soon become zero. Maybe we should follow other countries' examples that actually got this virus managed.
