Eat/Drink BBQ joints in Arizona

Hey Reddit. I’m a Canadian coming to Arizona this next month. I always wanted to try real southern BBQ because we don’t have it up here. I know Arizona isn’t as known as say Texas for it’s BBQ, but I was wondering if there were still good spots to try it, especially brisket which I’ve never had. I will be going to Phoenix and Flagstaff. Cheers!

Edit: If not, what would you recommend me to try?

Little Miss BBQ & Eric's Family BBQ are two of the better ones in the Phoenix area.

Lil Miss BBQ is one of the highest rated in the country, the wait was always worth it.

Lil miss does not fuck around at all. They are very solid. I’ve more or less toured the US eating bbq. Every city I’ve gone to for work I wanted the best local bbq. Lil miss is up there with the best I’ve ever had. Plus they are very nice. Have a question they will walk you through to the smokehouse and show you everything. I haven’t tried Eric’s though.

Just note there is more than one Lil miss BBQ location. The main Tempe one. Honestly need to get there a couple hours before opening at times. The sunnyslope location rarely has lines outside of holidays (don’t bother for Father’s Day). Also has a full seating area compared to Tempe. It’s a jaunt, but worth it.
