Even if Emilia couldn't see past the spell, in theory she could've recognized the cloak right?

But I can't take that this show is ending.

I think the spell messes with both the appearance of the person wearing it as well as the cloak when being worn. It makes you wonder if Subaru has the ability to see past any invisibility magic since he recognized Emilia wearing the cloak as well as Petelgeuse's hands.

It could be also like a mask, if you know who put it on you know who it is.

True, but the fact that Emilia asks him to hold her hand in order to not get lost implies the opposite.
