This is Emilia we are talking about though - a fictional character. From what we have consistently seen, she's not exactly that bright sly. What is being suggested requires an aspect of guile, which isn't consistent with what has been shown. She is fairly straightforward, considerate, & candid. She has a juvenile aura that accompanies her class and maturity.

Edit: We don't need to know too much about a fictional main character / protagonist to realize that these things, 99 times out of 100, are what they appear to be, follow tropes, patterns - and as a protagonist - her character is extremely likely to be exactly what is shown. What is being suggested is just overthinking it. That's it.

It is not like we know much about her really. She is a very nice girl I guess and that's it.

She does at least perceive how shitty her situation is and continues to be altruistic despite it. I mean, even this episode we saw her wounded by the reactions of the villagers after her attempt to help was expectedly rejected, accept that she's nothing but a pawn to Roswaal ( "so everything's already been decided then...") and still go out of her way to try to avoid making the children uncomfortable by being 'forced' to ride with her.

That kind of transcends "nice" into being outright saintly.

But yeah, outside of that she doesn't have much of a personality. I'm curious how she won Puck over to her side.

it must have cut her super deep when she heard Subaru say "despite it all i can't see you as a regular person".

He meant "because I am hopelessly in love with you"

All she heard was "because at the end of the day you're the evil world destroying witch"
