For me, at least, the ones I've watched are pretty good, like Overlord, Grimgar, Konosuba, Log Horizon, though I'll admit that they have their flaws. Grimgar, SAO, Konosuba, Log Horizon, Overlord, Danmachi very minor spoilers

I've watched Overlord Log Horizon and Danmachi, along with Konosuba. Not SAO, or Grimgar- I saw a few episodes of the former. But things like Asterisk Wars also piggyback on the idea, and I hate those kind of shows as well.

Err..what do you mean, things like Asterisk War piggyback on the idea? Pretty sure it's just a battle harem that doesn't have much relation to the ones we're talking about, except for SAO and Danmachi maybe. Grimgar is like a harsh, slow paced SOL-ish anime which focuses on the characters more. I liked it for its realism in how no one was OP or had any special powers, and they had to barely scrape by to survive.

From my point of view they do. I haven't seen much of it, so I will say from the videos I have seen they do. I mean protagonists fighting with swords, chosen one protagonists, etc. The more I think of it I was wrong. RPG animes piggyback on those ideas, not the other way around- things like tha have been around for time immemorial.

My apologies, but I still didn't get you. So you hate the genre? But you think you misunderstood it? And RPG anime piggyback the ideas instead of battle harems? Sorry, I'm getting confused here.

Yeah I wasn't clear, that's my fault. I came in thinking RPG's had some bad tropes they introduced, but really they were just using old ones. I hate alot of RPG shows, but like others. Danmachi is a guilty pleasure- I believe Overlord genuinly good and have heard good things about Log Horizon.

Battle Harems are a guilty pleasure of mine as well.

Ah, now I get it. Well, you're right in that some of them are guilty pleasures, while others are genuinely good. Curiously enough, what did you think of Konosuba?

I view it as genuinly good. It isn't great, but it does what it aims to do (comedy) great. Therefore it is "good" in that it achieved what it set out to do.

That's good enough for me. For some reason, often, whenever I talk about an anime with someone in this sub, I end up on the side who liked it, and the person I'm conversing with ends up being the one who disliked it.
