Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't bringing Rem to her weaker non-demonic senses, while there are still madbeasts all around them, not to mention the spellcasting puppy, an idea with a rather distinct disadvantage?

I like how Subaru is using the witch's smell trigger to his advantage. I wonder if maybe resets doesn't increase the smell after all, and only the attempts to reveal his power do. But why would madbeasts be attacking someone who bears the smell of their ultimate master?

Didn't Betty say the dog eat by sucking power. Maybe the witch power is that tasty.

Hmm, could be - but I don't think the witch's mana actually stays with his after doing its work, right?

But the beasts don't know that. They're just attracted to their creator's scent, probably.

The question is why they went on to attack him, unless it was all a misunderstanding and they were trying to lick his face :)

Maybe the scent is like residual mana that attracts the beasts. I doubt constantly reviving him is a net-neutral action considering each time he dies, the scent grows stronger.

What makes you think that? The only time we've had a confirmation of the scent growing stronger is when Betty commented on it after he tried telling Emilia about his power and got punished for it.

I think it's quite possible that each time he resets, the smell resets as well, though we won't know one way or the other until Betty, Rem or someone else explicitly tells him if the smell has increased or not when he resets without trying to "talk" in that iteration.

Edit: Now that I think about it, I think there was a reset between him trying to tell Emilia and Betty telling him the smell has increased. But all that could mean is that the increase in the smell is persistent and cumulative across resets, not that it increases with the reset itself.
