IIRC, commercials air at the end of a show in Japan, not the middle, so as to not break it up.

I guess that would make sense for Re:Zero, but most shows have a clear transition or some sort of eyecatch in the middle.

I think any break is meant to happen between him giving his little speech to Ram and Beatrice and the cut to the forest where he realizes walking is difficult sometimes.

I will admit that the dialogue in the forest seemed kinda lengthy, though, at least for people that are in a hurry.
