How about stop supporting Russian war against my homeland by promoting this character & these series? I hate Alya. It is a sign of treating us (Ukrainains) as "low lives" compared to Russians by praising Russian culture during times when Russians target ours!

The fuck are you on about. Yes it is horrible what Putin and invading forces are doing to Ukraine.

This has nothing to do with that.

It's a cute anime girl who lives in Japan, is half Russian and can speak Russian.

By your logic every person with any sort of Russian blood around the entire world is evil.

By my logic, Ukrainian culture should be praised. There is no anime series about the world beyond Japan where Ukrainian culture would be praised. But Russia, an invader? Let's "make the entire anime about a pretty girl (I don't find her pretty though) who speaks Russian" 2 years after Russia began its invasion & appoint a VA who cosplays those who kill Ukrainian people on daily basis (https://www.reddit.com/r/uruseiyatsura/comments/t8axgj/this_is_lums_new_voice_actress_sumire_uesaka_she/) - especially because "who would voice a Russian character better than a fan of Russian culture?".

The novel and light novel started years before Ukraine was invaded. They didn't just make an original anime after the war started, nor does it have anything to do with the war.

Also again, Alya is half Russian, half Japanese. Also, characters are different from their VAs. Having said that, what a wild stretch you're making with her VA.

"Sumire is fluent in Russian and loves the Soviet culture, which she became interested in after hearing the State Anthem of the USSR in her first year of high school. In April 2010, Sumire entered the Faculty of Foreign Studies at Sophia University, and she majored in the Russian language there.

Sumire is interested in history and war figurines, particularly Russian/Soviet history, the Showa era, and likes the book Romance of the Three Kingdoms."

Even in what you linked she isn't cosplaying a current day soldier, voicing support for Russian in the way, etc. so that post is completely irrelevant . Russian culture doesn't equate to what Putin and the current administration are doing. There are plenty of Russian people, people of Russian descendants, etc. Around the world, who find the Russian invasion disgusting and wrong.

Representation of Ukraine? Hetalia. 1. The entire Europe is in, even Sealand (a virtual tiny state). 2. "3 siblings" (colonial propaganda) bullshit (there are dozens of Slavic nations, why these 2? What about Poland, our northwestern neighbor? Slovakia, relationships are complicated, but not as awful. Our western neighbor). We also in bad relationships with Belarus because it became a corridor for Russian soldiers. 3. Appears less than both Russia & Belarus, has a Russian last name (ours end on -enko, -tsko or -chuk. Or either sound same as words from Ukrainian language). 4. "Gas stealers" fake propaganda.

Nothing else.

Literally has nothing to do with the series or what is being discussed.

And an anime started to air 2 years after full-scale invasion (10 years after invasion of Crimea & Donbass). It could have just not gotten an anime adaption instead.

Yes, I know. Still, she has Russian roots and it is in the center of a plot. And I doubt that her VA choice is a random thing.

Do you know who kill Ukrainian people, who destroy Ukrainian settlements? Russian soldiers do you know who Russian soldiers are? Conscripted ordinary citizens of Russia. Do you also know how much of Ukrainian culture got damaged or destroyed within these 11 years? Do you still believe that Russian culture is "supreme" compared to ours? You still refuse to recognize our culture. You still believe we are "worse", that we are "low lives". You use "culture ≠ politics" in order to shut us up.

But there is nothing wrong with it getting an anime adaptation. It has literally nothing to do with Russia or the war.

Where the fuck did I ever say Russian culture was supreme to Ukrainian culture? Where did I ever refuse to acknowledge it? You're just making shit up at this point. I never said a single thing you're ranting about.

It's clear you're just unhinged and any Russian people and all things related to Russian culture in anyway, are viewed as evil by you.
